Job summary

Ambition is representing a senior Head of Finance role in Kuala Lumpur for a 2-year contract (renewable) within the building and construction sector. You will report to the CFO, lead a dedicated finance team, and shape financial strategy for large-scale projects.

The role requires a degree in Finance/Accounting with professional qualifications and at least five years in senior management, preferably in construction or related industries.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline.
• Professional qualification ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, MICPA or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' experience at senior management level.
• Experience in Construction, Property Development or Engineering industry.
• Strong knowledge of financial controls and reporting standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
• Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and planning to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Manage CAPEX and overhead budgets, monitoring actual expenditure against targets.
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure adherence to legal, tax, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead cash management and funding activities, maintaining relationships with external financial bodies.
• Support ad hoc financial analysis and strategic reporting for senior leadership.

The Role

What We're Looking For

A senior finance professional ready to take full ownership:

• Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline, supported by a professional qualification (e.g. ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, MICPA or equivalent)
• A minimum of 5 years' experience at senior management level
• Experience in Construction, Property Development or Engineering industry
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team
• A background in construction, infrastructure, public transport or financial services is advantageous
• Sound knowledge of financial controls, reporting standards, and compliance frameworks
