Job summary

Betamek Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd in Kedah is hiring a Hardware Engineer to design, develop and test electronic hardware solutions for our product lines. The role focuses on translating concepts into reliable hardware systems, ensuring quality and performance standards are met, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will design schematics and PCB layouts, conduct testing, perform failure analysis, select components, and document specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• 2–3 years of hardware design and development experience.
• Proficiency in EDA tools such as Altium Designer or OrCAD.
• Strong understanding of circuits, analog/digital electronics, and signal processing.
• Experience with microcontrollers and embedded systems.
• Ability to test, debug and use lab equipment effectively.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic hardware components and systems, including schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Conduct hardware testing and validation to meet requirements and standards.
• Perform failure analysis and troubleshoot design defects and performance issues.
• Collaborate with firmware, software and manufacturing teams to integrate hardware solutions.
• Create and maintain design specs, test reports and user guides.
• Select components to optimise performance, cost and reliability.
• Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations for quality and manufacturability.
• Support prototype development and iterative refinement from testing feedback.
• Ensure compliance with relevant electrical engineering standards and regulations.
• Design CAD-related work using Catia and AutoCAD when required.

Job description

We are seeking a talented Hardware Engineer to join Betamek Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd in Kedah. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in designing, developing and testing electronic hardware solutions that drive our innovative products. As a Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for translating conceptual designs into functional, reliable hardware systems whilst ensuring they meet rigorous quality and performance standards. This role is integral to our engineering team and directly contributes to the success and competitiveness of our organisation in the electronics manufacturing sector.

What you'll be doing

Design and develop electronic hardware components and systems, including schematic capture, circuit design and PCB layout

Conduct hardware testing and validation to ensure products meet specified requirements and industry standards

Perform failure analysis and troubleshooting to identify and resolve design defects and performance issues

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including firmware engineers, software developers and manufacturing specialists to integrate hardware with broader product solutions

Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports and user guides

Evaluate and select appropriate electronic components and materials to optimise performance, cost and reliability

Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations to improve product quality and manufacturability

Support prototype development and engage in iterative design refinement based on testing feedback

Ensure compliance with relevant electrical and electronic engineering standards and regulations

Design CAD Knowledge (Catia & AutoCAD).

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline

Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in hardware design and development

Strong proficiency with electronic design automation (EDA) tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD or equivalent PCB design software

Solid understanding of circuit theory, digital and analogue electronics, and signal processing

Experience with microcontrollers, microprocessors and embedded systems

Competency in hardware testing, debugging and use of test equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters and logic analysers

Knowledge of power electronics, RF design or industrial electronics is advantageous

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Proficiency in technical documentation and ability to work effectively with design standards
