Job summary

GCH Retail (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s leading retailer operating Giant, Mercato, Cold Storage and TMC, seeks a Category Manager for Grocery (Core & Lifestyle) to oversee ambient grocery assortment, vendor relationships, and commercial planning.

You will own the P&L for Core and Lifestyle Grocery, design category strategies, negotiate supplier terms, and drive range reviews, planograms, and promotions to grow sales and margin.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Retail Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Grocery Category Management within FMCG or major supermarket/hypermarket chains.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in POS data analysis and space planning metrics.
• Excellent negotiation skills with a deep network of local FMCG suppliers and international brand importers.

Responsibilities

• Own the P&L for Core and Lifestyle Grocery, achieving targets across sales growth, gross margin, trading terms, and market share.
• Design category strategies balancing high-turnover staples with high-margin lifestyle/imported items.
• Negotiate annual vendor agreements, rebate structures, payment terms, and promotional support.
• Conduct range reviews, planogram optimizations, and stock rationalization to maximize sales per square meter.
• Track local and international food trends to bring exclusive lifestyle and gourmet products to market.
