Job summary

AMD in Penang, Malaysia, invites applications for a Graduate Trainee program to launch a career in modern infrastructure engineering. You will join the IT Infrastructure team, focusing on automating operations, building self-service tooling, and prototyping AI solutions for smarter infrastructure.

You will work with Python, IaC (Terraform, Ansible), and Linux on a fleet of x86 servers, paired with senior engineers and mentors to deliver real projects that can lead to a permanent role.

Qualifications

• Solid programming fundamentals with Python/Java/JavaScript or similar.
• Basic web development concepts (front-end and back-end).
• Familiarity with scripting/automation (shell scripts, schedulers, APIs).
• Exposure to AI/ML concepts and tools (LLMs, AI tooling).
• Strong problem-solving and willingness to learn new tech.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Coursework or projects in automation, DevOps, or AI/LLM integration.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD concepts.
• Understanding of REST APIs and database fundamentals.
• Exposure to IaC tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Experience building small web apps, APIs, or internal tools.
• Interest in LLM/AI tooling (OpenAI/Anthropic APIs, prompt engineering).

Responsibilities

• Automate infrastructure operations using Python and IaC to eliminate repetitive tasks.
• Build self-service tooling and workflows for provisioning resources.
• Prototype AI solutions for infrastructure (runbooks, alert triage).
• Support and improve reliability by monitoring systems and adding automation.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and IT staff to gather requirements.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes.
• Document solutions for internal knowledge sharing.
