Job summary

KONTRON ASIA PACIFIC DESIGN SDN BHD is seeking a senior Component Engineer to lead and improve component engineering strategies for complex electronic and mechanical parts. You will collaborate with Engineering and Procurement to evaluate components, select alternatives, and ensure product continuity across regions.

The role requires 5+ years in electronics, strong MTBF and environmental compliance knowledge, and proficiency with SAP and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Over 5 years in electronics with hands-on component engineering and lifecycle management.
• Strong knowledge of electronic and mechanical components, PC lifecycle and obsolescence management.
• Experience with PCN assessment, ECRs and documentation within change-control processes.
• Experience preparing MTBF and reliability analyses; familiar with MTBF tools.
• Experience with RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, PFAS, TSCA and packaging/material declarations.
• Proficient in SAP and MS Word/Excel; able to use AI tools to support analysis.
• Excellent organization, communication, and leadership capabilities; capable of cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead and improve component engineering processes and strategies for complex components.
• Evaluate components, identify alternatives, support sourcing decisions for availability.
• Lead component management activities regionally and globally; train users in North America.
• Manage component lifecycle from creation to end of life (EOL).
• Review PCNs, assess impact, coordinate follow-up actions.
• Manage environmental requirements (RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, PFAS, TSCA).
• Prepare theoretical reliability reports (MTBF) and other analyses.
• Select component suppliers and service providers in coordination with procurement.
• Assess regulatory/customer requirements and address technical documentation needs.
• Work with Engineering, Procurement, Quality and Manufacturing to resolve lifecycle risks.
