Job summary

Celestica Malaysia in Penang is seeking a seasoned Engineer to lead build-to-print projects in supplier qualification, tooling qualification, and quality performance. You will coordinate NPIs (FAI/PPAP) and MVP initiatives, reviewing drawings and specs to propose design improvements.

The role requires hands-on experience with tooling design, plastics and sheet metal processes, and solid knowledge of GD&T, FMEA, and GR&R. Travel to overseas locations may be required as part of program management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering - Mechanical / Manufacturing / Materials engineering.
• 5-10 years of related experience in tool design, engineering, NPI management, manufacturing, project management and quality management.
• Strong understanding of engineering and quality tools, including GD&T, DFM, FMEA, and GR&R.
• Hands-on experience with plastic tooling and manufacturing, sheet metal tooling and fabrication, machining, and secondary processes.
• Experience with SolidWorks or Creo is preferred.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949/AS9100 quality management systems.
• Good project management, analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, 5Whys, Fish-Bone, DMAIC, PDCA).
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Willingness and ability to travel overseas as required by the role.

Job description

This position focuses on "build-to-print" commodities, with a primary focus on supplier qualification, tooling qualification, supplier quality performance, localization project management, First Article Inspection (FAI) and Material value proposition (MVP).

Key responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering - Mechanical / Manufacturing / Materials engineering
• 5-10 years of related experience in tool design, engineering, NPI management, manufacturing, project management and quality management preferred or an equivalent combination of experience
• Strong understanding of engineering and quality tools, including GD&T, DFM, FMEA, and GR&R
• Hands-on experience with one or multiple domains - Plastic tooling and manufacturing process, sheet metal tooling and fabrication process, machining processes and hardwares, along with a good understanding of secondary processes (e.g., plating, powder coating, anodizing)
• Understanding mechanical design software such as SolidWorks or Creo
• Knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949/AS9100 quality management systems
• Good project management skill, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, 5Whys, Fish-Bone, DMAIC, PDCA)
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
