Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking an experienced senior operations leader to provide strategic direction for plastic injection moulding operations, ensuring production, quality, cost, delivery, safety, and productivity targets are met while driving continuous improvement, operational excellence, and sustainable business growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management or related discipline.
• Professional qualifications in Operations Management, Manufacturing, or Business Administration are advantageous.
• Experience with Quality Management, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Occupational Safety and Health is advantageous.
• Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience in manufacturing operations, preferably automotive.
• Hands-on experience in plastic injection moulding manufacturing operations.
• Experience in plant expansion, equipment investment and manpower planning.
• Experience implementing IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and automotive core tools is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction for manufacturing and plant operations to achieve targets.
• Develop and implement operational strategies, business plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee daily production activities ensuring schedules, quality, and cost targets are met.
• Ensure effective utilisation, maintenance of production machinery, moulds, tooling, and fixtures.
• Monitor and control manufacturing costs, scrap, downtime, and overtime.
• Ensure compliance with customer requirements, quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in productivity, process efficiency, quality, and waste reduction.
• Lead capacity planning, plant expansion, equipment investment, and manpower planning.
• Oversee launch of new products including process development, tooling, and production readiness.
• Establish and monitor operational KPIs and implement corrective actions.

Objective

To provide overall leadership and strategic direction for plastic injection moulding operations, ensuring the achievement of production, quality, cost, delivery, safety, and productivity targets while driving continuous improvement, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and sustainable business growth.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction for manufacturing and plant operations to achieve production, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity targets.
• Develop and implement operational strategies, business plans, and continuous improvement initiatives in line with the company’s objectives.
• Oversee daily production activities, ensuring production schedules are achieved while maintaining required quality standards and cost targets.
• Ensure effective utilisation and maintenance of production machinery, equipment, moulds, tooling, jigs, fixtures, and other manufacturing resources.
• Monitor and control manufacturing costs, scrap, rework, downtime, overtime, and overall operational expenses.
• Ensure compliance with customer requirements, quality standards, company procedures, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in productivity, process efficiency, quality, cost reduction, waste elimination, and overall operational performance.
• Lead capacity planning, plant expansion, equipment investment, manpower planning, and resource allocation in accordance with business and sales projections.
• Oversee the successful launch and timely introduction of new products, including process development, tooling, mould trials, jig and fixture fabrication, localisation, and production readiness.
• Establish and monitor operational KPIs, review performance regularly, and implement corrective and preventive actions where required.
• Develop and maintain a high-performance culture through effective leadership, employee engagement, training, coaching, and succession planning.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and orderly working environment and promote a strong culture of workplace safety and environmental responsibility.
• Maintain effective communication with senior management, customers, suppliers, employees, and the Workers' Consultative Council on operational matters.
• Conduct regular management reviews to identify operational risks, resolve issues, and drive continual improvement.

What we're looking for

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related discipline

Professional Experience:

Professional qualifications or postgraduate qualifications in Operations Management, Manufacturing, or Business Administration would be an added advantage.

Relevant training or certification in Quality Management, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Occupational Safety and Health would be advantageous.

Minimum 10-15 years of relevant experience in manufacturing operations, preferably within the automotive industry.

Strong hands-on experience in plastic injection moulding manufacturing operations.

Proven experience in managing production, quality, engineering, maintenance, tooling, manpower, and manufacturing costs.

Experience in capacity planning, plant expansion, equipment investment, and manpower planning.

Experience in implementing or maintaining manufacturing and quality management systems such as IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and relevant automotive core tools would be highly advantageous.
