Job description

Jora Malaysia will close on 16th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

The Fundraising Executive secures the funding that keeps SOLS Foundation's programmes running. That means acquiring and retaining donors, managing corporate and institutional relationships, running volunteer and crowdfunding campaigns, writing grants, and reporting to funders. You'll track progress, keep funders informed accurately and on time, and align funding with what the programmes actually need.

Who the role is for - This is for someone who wants to eventually own fundraising end to end — donor to dollar to report.

You'll run and grow an established fundraising function that keeps our programmes funded: education, rural electrification, and employment support for rural Orang Asli and Orang Asal communities and urban low-income youth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Donors & relationships

Identify and cultivate donors — individuals, corporates, foundations, government

Build long-term relationships; keep donors updated, appreciated, and aligned with our mission

Maintain the donor and CSR-contact records, including communication history and engagement stage

Grants & awards

Research, write, and submit compelling grant proposals aligned with our mission

Keep a calendar of deadlines and hit every one

Apply for awards that build our visibility and credibility

Plan and run corporate volunteer engagements and fundraising events, with programme teams and partners

Evaluate what worked and improve the next one

Campaigns

Build and run employee-giving and digital fundraising campaigns, including the communications and stewardship materials

Reporting & impact

Produce bespoke, on-schedule funder reports (installation reports, programme feedback) that strengthen relationships

Coordinate the quantitative and qualitative data behind those reports

Keep the donations/sponsorship tracking accurate; liaise with accounts on fund transfers and tax-exemption receipts

Build the SOPs for reporting and tracking so the function runs cleanly as it grows

Keep a clear, current fundraising pipeline — every active conversation, stage, and next action

Organise proposals, decks, agreements, and reports in shared folders

Prepare reports for the executive team and board

BENEFITS

A fair remuneration package and an incentives plan.

Skills development in grant and proposal writing, pitch preparation and delivery, building effective stakeholder relationships, planning fundraising campaigns and more.

The programmes give you concrete, fundable stories: real installations, real cohorts, real outcomes you can put in front of a donor.

Work in an agile-driven environment alongside a diverse team who will support your job growth.

Contribute directly to improving the lives of low-income communities, as a part of a #madetoimpact organisation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Bachelor's Degree

Minimum 2–4 years of working experience in fundraising, social entrepreneurship, education, energy access, or the nonprofit sector

Strong planning and prioritisation skills

Decision-making and problem-solving ability

Effective communication, presentation and negotiation skills

Necessary technical, functional or language skills

Passionate about community development and social impact

Strong proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both oral and written

Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach — this role works closely with programme, energy, and operations teams and requires someone who is helpful, personable, and proactive in cross-team coordination

Understanding of SOLS Foundation's values, principles, and objectives and demonstrated ability to reflect them in day-to-day work

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Experience in corporate volunteer coordination or CSR event management is an advantage

Lastly, read this part carefully, because it's the part most fundraising job descriptions leave out.

Fundraising can be slow. Real funding comes from relationships built over months, and the timing is affected by things outside your control — economic conditions, corporate CSR budget cycles, giving seasons. You can do everything right and still wait for a "yes." The people who build a successful career in this sector are driven by money and by the impact that money creates. That second driver matters more than it sounds: in the early stretch, before your first wins land, it's seeing the impact — a house electrified, a youth into a job — that keeps you going. Once the funding starts coming, the wins fuel you too.

You do not need prior fundraising experience. You need the temperament above, and the willingness to learn the craft.
