Job summary

The role involves presenting UNICEF’s impact, conducting campaigns and events, and meeting fundraising targets while building long-term donor relationships across Kuala Lumpur.

Qualifications

• Experience in fundraising, sales or donor-facing roles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to meet fundraising targets and manage donor relationships.
• Fluency in English and Malay.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

About the role

We are seeking a talented and passionate Promoter (Fundraiser) to join our team in Kuala Lumpur on a full-time basis. In this role, you will play a crucial part in UNICEF Malaysia's mission by generating vital financial support from the public and corporate sectors. As a Promoter, you will be the face of UNICEF, engaging with potential donors, building relationships, and inspiring individuals and organisations to contribute to our life‑saving programmes. This position is essential to our ability to fund critical initiatives that protect and support children in need across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, approach and cultivate relationships with potential donors from both individual and corporate sectors
• Present UNICEF's programmes, impact and fundraising opportunities to prospective supporters in a compelling and persuasive manner
• Conduct fundraising campaigns and promotional events designed to raise awareness and secure financial contributions
• Meet and exceed individual fundraising targets and quotas on a consistent basis
• Maintain accurate records of donor interactions, pledges and donations using UNICEF's database systems
• Build and sustain long-term relationships with donors to encourage repeat giving and increased contribution levels
• Communicate UNICEF's mission, values and impact stories effectively to motivate and engage donors
• Participate in community outreach activities, fundraising events and promotional activities across Kuala Lumpur
• Provide regular updates to management on fundraising progress, challenges and opportunities
• Collaborate with the broader fundraising and communications team to ensure consistent messaging and campaign effectiveness

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience in fundraising, sales, business development or a similar donor-facing role, preferably within the non-profit or development sector
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with diverse audiences and build rapport quickly
• Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales and fundraising targets
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple donor relationships and follow-ups simultaneously
• Passion for UNICEF's mission and commitment to supporting vulnerable children
• Fluency in English and Malay (essential); additional languages an advantage
• A positive, resilient attitude with the ability to handle rejection and remain motivated
• Proficiency in using customer relationship management (CRM) systems and Microsoft Office applications
• Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional evening and weekend hours for fundraising events
• Valid driver's licence and access to personal transport is preferred for attending donor meetings and events across Kuala Lumpur
• Certification in fundraising, sales or related qualifications is advantageous but not essential with demonstrated experience
