BERJAYA MUTUAL BERHAD in Kuala Lumpur seeks an experienced Fund Manager to oversee investment portfolios across asset classes and develop innovative investment products. You will conduct market analysis, manage risk, and ensure regulatory compliance while collaborating with stakeholders to drive fund performance.
The role requires strong financial modelling, a track record in launching funds, and the ability to present insights to senior management and clients.
Responsible for managing investment portfolios across local and global markets to achieve superior risk-adjusted returns in line with investment mandates and client objectives. The role encompasses investment research, portfolio construction and management, asset allocation, risk management, regulatory and internal policy compliance, and the development, and launch of new investment products. The Fund Manager works closely with internal stakeholders to drive fund performance, product innovation, and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Manage investment portfolios across equities, fixed income, money market, multi-asset and alternative investments.
Develop investment strategies based on market, economic and sector analysis.
Conduct investment research and identify suitable investment opportunities.
Execute investments within approved mandates and risk limits.
Monitor portfolio performance and recommend portfolio adjustments.
Prepare investment reports, market outlooks and portfolio reviews.
Keep updated on regulatory and market developments.
Product Design & Development
Lead the conceptualization and design of new investment products and funds based on market and client needs.
Design product structures, investment strategies and fund objectives.
Perform feasibility studies and competitive benchmarking for proposed products.
Prepare product proposals and business cases for approval.
Fund Launch & Product Management
Coordinate cross-functional teams (compliance and risk, legal, operations, marketing and distributions, trustees, and regulators) for the launch of new investment products and portfolios/funds.
Prepare product documentations, investment guidelines, and fund fact sheets.
Support marketing and sales activities through product training, presentations, and client engagement.
Monitor post-launch performance and product effectiveness.
Familiar with Securities Commission Malaysia Guidelines on Lodge and Launch and other relevant regulatory requirements.
Ensure portfolios comply with regulatory requirements, investment mandates, and internal policies.
Monitor portfolio risk metrics including market, liquidity, concentration, and currency risks.
Collaborate with Risk and Compliance teams to maintain robust investment governance.
Participate in investment committee/ board meetings.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Present investment strategies, market outlooks and fund performance to institutional clients, distributors, and senior management.
Support business development initiatives, distribution network expansion and client acquisition efforts.
Qualification and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Investment Management, Economics, Accounting, Business, or related field.
Master's Degree, CFA, or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
Meet Securities Commission Malaysia’s fit‑and‑proper criteria and hold the relevant CMSRL qualifications for fund management activities.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in portfolio management and investment management.
Proven experience in the establishment and launch of investment products, including Unit Trust Funds, Wholesale Funds, and Private Mandates.
Strong understanding of capital markets, asset allocation, and portfolio construction.
Understanding of fund regulatory requirements and governance standards.
Strong financial modelling and valuation skills; and knowledge in AI-driven investment analysis is an added advantage
Good interpersonal and communication skill.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
