Job summary

TER Badminton Academy in Klang, Selangor is seeking a Full Time Badminton Coach to join our coaching team. This role focuses on developing athletes' skills, technique, and competitive abilities across beginners to competitive players, within a supportive professional environment.

You will design tailored training programmes, lead sessions on technique, tactics, fitness and mental prep, provide feedback, track progress, and help athletes prepare for upcoming competitions.

Qualifications

• A recognised badminton coaching qualification (BAM Level 1/2 or equivalent).
• 2–3 years of badminton coaching experience with players of varying abilities.
• Strong technical knowledge of badminton rules, techniques, tactics and game strategy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate diverse groups.
• First Aid certification or willingness to obtain soon after hire.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement structured training programmes tailored to athletes' needs and skill levels.
• Conduct coaching sessions focusing on technical skills, tactical awareness, fitness, and mental preparation.
• Provide constructive feedback and personalised guidance to improve performance.
• Assess and track athlete progress through regular monitoring and performance metrics.
• Prepare athletes for competitions with strategic planning and tournament-specific training.
• Maintain accurate records of training sessions, player development, and progress reports.

As a coach, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to badminton players of varying skill levels, from beginners to competitive athletes. This position is integral to our academy's mission of fostering excellence in badminton and nurturing the next generation of talented players.

What you'll be doing

• Designing and implementing structured training programmes tailored to the individual needs and skill levels of athletes
• Conducting regular coaching sessions focusing on technical skills, tactical awareness, fitness, and mental preparation

• Assessing and evaluating athlete progress through regular monitoring and performance metrics
• Preparing athletes for competitions and tournaments through strategic planning and competition-specific training

• Collaborating with other coaches and academy staff to ensure consistent messaging and quality programming

What we're looking for

• A recognised coaching qualification in badminton (such as BAM Level 1, 2, or equivalent international certification)
• A minimum of 2-3 years' coaching experience in badminton, preferably working with players of varying abilities
• Strong technical knowledge of badminton, including rules, techniques, tactics, and game strategy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of athletes
• Proficiency in assessing player performance and providing clear, constructive feedback
• Physical fitness and the ability to demonstrate techniques and drills during training sessions
• A passion for badminton and a genuine commitment to athlete development and safety
• Organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple training groups and schedules effectively
• First Aid certification or willingness to obtain one shortly after hire
• Experience coaching competitive-level players and tournament preparation is highly advantageous
• Knowledge of athlete nutrition, conditioning, and injury prevention is a valued asset
