Job summary

ams OSRAM is seeking a seasoned Test Engineering professional in Malaysia to lead R&D collaboration, tool qualification, and process improvements in front-end testing. You will drive continuous improvement, ensure tool readiness, and partner with sustaining engineering to optimize yield and efficiency.

The role requires strong skills in risk management, OCAP development, and maintenance planning to maximize uptime and process stability in a high-tech manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a degree in engineering (EE/Mechatronic/Mechanical/Chemical).
• Minimum 10 years in manufacturing environment, front-end testing.
• Minimum 5 years in test and inspection engineering.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with R&D for probing and testing tool qualification; evaluate new test methods and tools.
• Drive sustaining engineering and continuous improvement to enhance yield, quality and test efficiency; troubleshoot issues.
• Conduct risk assessments for test processes and equipment; develop Control Plans and OCAPs; maintain Work Instructions for test operations.

Your new responsibilities

• R&D Collaboration & Tool Qualification. Partner with R&D teams to support probing and testing tool qualification. Evaluate new test methods, tools, and technologies to ensure readiness for production. Provide technical feedback to improve test coverage, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Sustaining & Process Improvement. Work closely with sustaining engineering teams on maintenance strategies and process-related issues. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance yield, quality, and test efficiency. Troubleshoot test-related issues and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Risk Management & Process Control. Conduct risk assessments for test processes and equipment. Develop and maintain Control Plans to ensure process stability. Create and implement OCAP (Out of Control Action Plans). Prepare and maintain detailed Work Instructions for test operations.
• Equipment Uptime & Performance. Ensure testing tools meet or exceed Industrial Engineering (IE) uptime targets. Monitor equipment performance and drive actions to minimize downtime. Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
