Job summary

UST Malaysia in Penang is seeking fresh graduates for roles as a Physical Design Engineer and Test Development Engineer. The positions involve assisting in the design/layout processes and developing test systems while collaborating with teams for project success.

Job Description – PHYSICAL DESIGN ENGINEER (FRESH)

• Assist in synthesis, floor planning, placement, CTS, and routing.
• Perform timing analysis, power optimization, and physical verification DRC/LVS checks.
• Collaborate with design and DFT teams for successful tape-out.
• Support documentation and report design progress, metrics and issues.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Microelectronics.
• Understanding of digital logic fundamentals, including logic gates and circuit timing.
• Basic knowledge of VLSI design flow and scripting (TCL/Python/Perl).
• Familiarity with EDA tools (Synopsys/Cadence) is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and teamwork skills; eager to learn.
• Graduates who are currently/has completed training under ASEM / PSDC VLSI programs will have advantage.

Job Description – TEST DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (FRESH)

• Writing simple test programs / software
• Designing test hardware / fixture
• Supporting mechanical setup (with vendors)

Basic Skills Required

• Recent fresh graduate in Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering / Mechatronics Engineering.
• Software Engineering fresh candidates who are interested in learning hardware tools are welcomed to apply as well.
• Basic knowledge of any programming language, preferably LabVIEW.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with Multimeter & Oscilloscope.
• Understand basic testing concepts.
• Basic hardware knowledge (e.g., schematics).
• Excellent proficiency in English and able to read & write in Mandarin to interface with external and internal Mandarin-speaking stakeholders.
• Good attitude, willing to learn, proactive.
