Niaga Prestasi in Bayan Lepas, Penang seeks a Senior Lead FPGA Engineer to drive architecture and design of advanced FPGA-based solutions across HealthTech, Industrial, Smart Energy, Aerospace and Capital Equipment. You will lead complex product development programs and mentor the team.

The role requires 5-10+ years in FPGA design, HDL development, and strong cross-functional collaboration. Travel internationally may be required as projects span global customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
  • 5-10+ years of relevant product design experience.
  • Strong experience in FPGA architecture, digital design and HDL development.
  • Strong understanding of FPGA development and product realization.
  • Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Strong technical leadership and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work with international teams and customers.
  • Willingness to travel internationally when required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead FPGA architecture, design and implementation for complex product development programs.
  • Develop FPGA designs using VHDL, Verilog and SystemVerilog.
  • Work with AMD/Xilinx, Altera and Lattice platforms.
  • Perform FPGA development with Vivado, Quartus, ISE and ModelSim.
  • Perform timing analysis, timing closure and optimization.
  • Design and manage Clock Domain Crossing (CDC) solutions.
  • Develop and integrate PCIe, Ethernet, USB, DDR, LVDS and SERDES interfaces.
  • Work with SPI, I2C and UART interfaces.
  • Develop FPGA/IP solutions from design to manufacturing handoff.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams on board-level designs with CPU/MPU/MCU/FPGA/GPU.
  • Support schematic and PCB layout activities as needed.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams, customers and manufacturing partners.
  • Contribute to product quality, DFx and technical reviews.
  • Participate in proposals, innovation, and engineering improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers.
  • Support project execution and ensure deliverables meet requirements.
  • Participate in international customer or project engagements and travel.

Senior Lead FPGA EngineerJob Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Lead FPGA Engineer to join an advanced engineering team involved in the development of innovative product solutions across industries including HealthTech, Industrial, Smart Energy, Aerospace and Capital Equipment.

This is a senior/lead-level permanent position based in Bayan Lepas, Penang.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead FPGA architecture, design and implementation for complex product development programs.
  • Develop and maintain FPGA designs using HDL technologies such as VHDL, Verilog and SystemVerilog.
  • Work with FPGA platforms including AMD/Xilinx, Altera and Lattice.
  • Perform FPGA development using tools such as Vivado, Quartus, ISE and ModelSim.
  • Perform timing analysis, timing closure and design optimization.
  • Design and manage Clock Domain Crossing (CDC) solutions.
  • Develop and integrate high-speed interfaces including PCIe, Ethernet, USB, DDR, LVDS and SERDES.
  • Work with low-speed interfaces such as SPI, I2C and UART.
  • Develop FPGA/IP solutions from initial design through product realization and transition to manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering teams on board-level designs involving CPU, MPU, MCU, FPGA and GPU.
  • Support schematic and PCB layout activities where required.
  • Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, customers and manufacturing partners.
  • Contribute to product quality, design-for-manufacturing and technical reviews.
  • Participate in technical proposals, innovation initiatives and engineering improvement activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers within the team.
  • Support project execution and ensure technical deliverables meet quality and project requirements.
  • Participate in international customer or project engagements and travel when required.
