Job summary

Altera in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking an Embedded Systems and IP Engineer to own features across design and DV, from requirements to validation and release. You will work across hardware, firmware, drivers, software, and customer use-cases to deliver high-quality soft IP and embedded solutions.

The ideal candidate has hands-on RTL and verification experience, strong embedded-systems knowledge, and the ability to coordinate execution across teams and sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in EE or related field.
• 5+ years in embedded systems, FPGA, RTL design or similar.
• Strong digital design, CPU architecture, hardware/software interaction.
• Experience with SystemVerilog/UVM verification environments.
• Experience with functional coverage, assertions, regression management.
• Python or scripting; C/C++ knowledge.
• FPGA implementation and Quartus toolchain.
• Strong analytical and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Translate system/ product/ customer requirements into detailed design inputs and acceptance criteria.
• Design, implement, integrate, and debug synthesizable RTL using Verilog and SystemVerilog.
• Configure IP/subsystems using Quartus, Platform Designer, Visual Designer Studio.
• Support embedded-system bring-up across FPGA fabric, HPS/Nios V, firmware, drivers, and customer apps.
• Develop and execute verification plans and SystemVerilog test benches or UVM environments.
• Run simulations, regressions, linting, timing analysis, and coverage checks; identify gaps and closures.
• Communicate status/risks and drive issues to closure with teams across sites.
