The Founding Principal is responsible for promoting, designing, leading, and overseeing the creation of RAS Jakarta, a new school in downtown Jakarta, where we aim to enroll 300 K‑12 students for SY 26‑27. The founding principal will hire the necessary faculty and staff to support and inspire our students. Development of the school’s academic and extracurricular programs, in line with community expectations, will be a top priority. A significant component of the role will initially involve promoting the school with parents and in the community to build knowledge of the school’s program, enhance its reputation, and build enrollment for the inaugural school year.
Performance Responsibilities
Promote School and Enroll Students
- Develop campaign to advertise school yielding in student enrollment
- Oversee student admissions and onboarding processes
Design and Implement Academic and Extracurricular Program
- Build the academic schedule according to RAS norms and community expectations
- Develop curriculum, assessment, and grading procedures in accordance with American norms
- Create well‑rounded curriculum with ample opportunities for sports and extracurricular participation
- Ensure care of students with appropriate counseling and support services
Design Organizational Structure and Hire Faculty & Staff
- Establish school organizational structure with reporting responsibilities
- Design proper hiring and dismissal procedures
- Hire inspirational and qualified faculty and staff that meet student needs
Employee Evaluation
- Carry out evaluation system that identifies high‑quality teaching
- Build system and culture where teachers can learn and consistently improve
Day‑to‑day Operations
- Oversee all aspects of daily school operations and functions including child safeguarding, facility management, student discipline, adherence to school policies, and communication procedures
Parent and Community Communication
- Maintain positive, frequent, and open communication with parent community regarding their children and school affairs
Administrative Duties
- Develop and meet yearly budget
- Ensure government compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Educational Leadership or related field
- 10 years experience in education
- Ability to successfully promote the school and build enrollment
- Ability to connect with parents, teachers, and staff to communicate clear vision
- Ability to design and implement a K‑12 program involving faculty, students, and parents
- Ability to successfully motivate and lead the school team through the ups and downs of starting a new school
- Superb written and verbal communication skills
- High financial acumen
