Job summary

GCH Retail (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Food Safety & Halal Executive to provide hands-on support across Southern Malaysia outlets. You will work with Store and F&B teams to ensure compliance with KKM, Halal and food safety rules and prepare for regulatory inspections.

The role covers new store openings, KKM inspections, corrective actions and continuous improvement, with travel to outlets as required. Strong knowledge of Food Act and Halal requirements is essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field.
• Experience in Halal compliance, food safety (HACCP, ISO, etc), or quality assurance preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in food safety, F&B, retail, Halal compliance or related field.
• Experience with KKM inspection, food safety compliance or Halal certification is an advantage.
• Good knowledge & understanding of Food Act 1983, Food Regulations 1985, Food Hygiene Regulations 2009 and Halal requirements.
• Practical knowledge of food handling, hygiene, storage, temperature control and sanitation.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Able to translate regulatory requirements into practical solutions for operations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct store visits to identify issues and provide practical solutions.
• Support stores during KKM inspections, including findings, notices and compounds.
• Guide stores on corrective actions and ensure timely closure.
• Support food safety and Halal documentation, certificates and compliance requirements.
• Follow up on recurring issues and escalate serious non-compliance to management.
• Identify and highlight compliance gaps before opening.
• Support checks on food preparation flow, handwashing, sinks, storage, drainage, waste, pest-proofing, ventilation and equipment placement.
• Conduct pre-opening checks and support closure of issues before opening.
• Support new outlets with KKM and Halal readiness.

Job description

The Food Safety & Halal Executive will provide hands-on food safety and Halal support to supermarket and F&B outlets across the region (Southern). The role will work closely with Store and F&B Operations to ensure outlets comply with KKM, food safety and Halal requirements, and are prepared for regulatory inspections. The position will also support new store and F&B openings, KKM inspections, regulatory findings, corrective actions, training and continuous improvement.

Duty Responsibilities

1. Store Food Safety, Halal & Regulatory Support

Work closely with Store and F&B teams to maintain food safety, Halal and KKM compliance.

Conduct store visits to identify issues and provide practical solutions.

Support stores during KKM inspections, including findings, notices and compounds.

Guide stores on corrective actions and ensure timely closure.

Support food safety and Halal documentation, certificates and compliance requirements.
