Job summary

Carigali Hess is seeking an experienced Drilling & Completion Fluids Engineer for offshore campaigns, focusing on fluids, cementing, and geomechanics. You will plan, model, and optimize mud weights, cementing programs, and wellbore stability while integrating pore pressure analyses across well construction lifecycles.

The role requires 15 years in fluids engineering in mature offshore fields, with IWCF, HUET, and medical certificates.

Qualifications

• 15 years’ experience in Drilling & Completion fluids engineering and operations in offshore gas/mature fields.
• Knowledge of workovers, slot recovery, wellbore re-entry and P&A is advantageous.
• Knowledge of mature fields with depleted reservoirs and HPHT wells.
• Familiar with HSE standards and procedures and HSE culture of major international operators.
• Valid Medical Certificate, HUET, Offshore Survival Certificate, IWCF Well Control Certificate.

Job description

Plan and execute Fluids & Cementing plan for the various Infill Development campaign in compliance with PPJO’s accepted technical and operational standards. Primary project involvement includes but not limited to the CIZ Infill development, NFD, BEA and WestFlank as well as other projects according to resources and priorities.

Plan and improve drilling fluids, completion fluids, geomechanics and cementing operation efficiency through the application of the state-of-the-art technology in all facets of the planning, while Drilling & Completion operations, lesson learnt mechanism and application of practices and matured technology through studies to achieve optimum operating cost and performance and to contribute to the improvement of the work process and technology applications. Lead and perform comprehensive loss mitigation andstress caging design, plan and execution.

Perform comprehensive hydraulics modelling (ECD, surge/swab, hole cleaning, cuttings transport index, displacement efficiency) using industry-standard software across all phases of the well construction lifecycle including completion running and cementing operations.

Integrate pore pressure, fracture gradient, and wellbore stability analysis (geomechanical modeling) into fluid density window design for each hole section. Collaborate with the Drilling & Completion Engineers on mud weight window optimization, ECD management, and reactive shale inhibition. Develop and review fluids programs for operational execution.

Focal point to manage, drilling and completion fluids, centrifuge, mud cooler contracts.

Operational Excellence

Lead and supervise the implementation of the Drilling & Completion fluids, geomechanics and cementing program in the project team to ensure all activities are operated in safe and cost-effective manner.

Reduce Non-Productive Time (NPT) related to Drilling & Completion fluids, geomechanics and cementing by identifying problems and recommend remedial action to achieve optimum operating cost and performance.

Set and monitor contractor performance KPI that align with the Drilling and Completion Engineers

Provide continuous advice and technical support to respective project team by daily Drilling & Completion on fluids properties, cementing operation, hole stability and cost impact, if any to ensure safe, smooth and cost effective operations.

Daily well surveillance on Drilling Fluids performance, and quantity (volume). Monitor daily cost and mud, chemical, weighting agent and base oil usage. Monitor and plan for shaker screen usage. Monitor and control LMP usage and mud volume. Lead cost saving initiatives in terms of fluids and cementing and monitor contract ACV. Ensure SORF from vendors are up to date and correct prior to issuance of SO and later to review invoice for accuracy. Provide support to planning team to budget costs and AFE for fluids, cementing related costs. Focal point for all fluids and cementing related tests. Provide advice and support to subsurface team and WIS team as and when required for fluids/cementing related. Perform regular audits on fluids, cementing, base oil, LMP facilities and labs.

Drilling & Completion Data Services

Consolidate, capture, and verify all Drilling & Completion fluids, geomechanics and cementing technical information and disseminate to various projects teams as to ensure everybody is well-updated on technologies application for drilling, completion and work over activities.

Environmental Drilling & Completion Performance

Environmental Drilling & Completion performance management of fluids and solids control equipment optimization. Environmental compliance / environmental monitoring of local compliance limits, for all hydrocarbon fluids.

Retention on cuttings performance analysis as per EPA standard and Regulation and follow Standard Work Instruction issue by PPJO. Waste management tracking sheets (non-hazardous and hazardous wastes, oily contaminated materials, oil, scrap metal, wastewater, medical wastes, and others). Comprehensive End of Well reporting system as a measurement of performance, Investigate and implement shaker screen maintenance, handling, and storage procedures to optimize utilization.

Walk in line with PPJO policy of ZERO LOPC (Lost Of Primary Containment) by focusing on environmentally sensitive valves and lines on the rig, making sure that this valve and lines are in control.

Inclusive of daily compliance and monitoring report, recommendation hitlist, drains register, valve register and hydrocarbon hose matrix. Supervise the optimization of the performance of all solids control equipment onboard both separately and as a system.

Comprehensive daily analysis reporting on performance of all solids control equipment onboard whilst Drilling & Completion. Surveys all aspects of mud movement, transfers, and handling to minimize whole mud losses and maximize mud recovery onboard.

Perform static sheen testing in accordance with regulations to determine the suitability of Drilling & Completion fluids and drilled cuttings for discharge.

Capture and prepare Drilling & Completion fluid and cement chemical samples for onshore laboratory analysis as determined by the regional regulatory guidelines.

Collate daily usage of hydrocarbons and non-hydrocarbon-based fluids along with daily emissions from diesel consumption and Comply with any current sampling, testing, and reporting procedures with respect to any Drilling & Completion fluids and cementing.

Minimize site generated volumes of waste; this includes co-ordination of inter-related waste treatment services provided.

Comprehensive daily analysis reporting on Drilling & Completion Fluids and Cuttings Discharges, Toxicity Testing, Sanitary waste, Diesel Emissions and Domestic Waste.

Minimum recognised Honors Diploma or Degree (BSc or BEng)

Minimum 15 years’ experience in Drilling & Completion fluids engineering and operations preferable gained through hands-on Drilling & Completion experience in offshore gas and mature field (i.e., brownfield) operations

Knowledge and experience in workovers, slot recovery, wellbore re-entry and P&A will be an advantage

Knowledge and experience Drilling & Completion in mature fields with depleted reservoirs and HPHT wells.

Familiar and experienced with HSE Standards and Procedures and HSE culture of major international operators

Computer literate and demonstrated ability in the use of Drilling & Completion fluids hydraulic software.
