The Group of Companies in Johor Bahru, Malaysia is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our accounting and financial analysis team. This full-time role focuses on delivering accurate insights, reporting, and analyses to support strategic decisions and financial planning.

You will work on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, perform variance analysis, build financial models, and assist with budgeting and forecasting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• 2-3 years in financial analysis or accounting.
• Proficient in Excel with pivot tables, VLOOKUP, modelling.
• Solid GAAP and financial reporting knowledge.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, reports and analyses on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.

This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in supporting the financial operations and strategic decision-making processes of our organisation. As a Financial Analyst, you will be at the heart of our financial planning and analysis function, responsible for delivering accurate financial insights, comprehensive reporting, and meaningful analysis that drives informed business decisions. Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, reports, and analyses on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
• Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies between actual and budgeted figures, investigating root causes and recommending corrective actions
• Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts to support business planning and strategic initiatives
• Perform trend analysis and provide financial insights to support management decision-making
• Monitor cash flow and working capital metrics, ensuring optimal financial health
• Reconcile accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data across various systems and platforms
• Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including assumptions development and scenario planning
• Compile and present financial information to senior management and stakeholders in clear, concise formats
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies within the finance function
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal financial policies and procedures

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a similar role within a professional environment
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modelling
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (GAAP), and financial reporting standards
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Professional accounting certifications (such as ACCA, ICAEW, or CPA) are preferred but not essential
• Familiarity with data visualisation tools and business intelligence software is advantageous
