Job summary

Southern PC Steel Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead all finance and accounting functions for our steel manufacturing operations. You will drive FP&A, costing, inventory control, budgeting, and strategic financial support to management.

The role requires strong analytical skills, manufacturing costing knowledge, process improvements, and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will mentor the finance team and collaborate with operations to enhance cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification.
• 8–10 years of relevant finance and accounting experience.
• 3–5 years in a managerial or leadership position.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing costing, inventory management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Experience in steel/metal manufacturing is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Oversee finance, accounting, treasury, taxation, and reporting functions.
• Ensure smooth daily finance operations and resolve issues promptly.
• Review monthly financial reports and management accounts.
• Develop financial analyses and provide recommendations for business decisions.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and rolling forecast processes.
• Monitor costings, inventory movements, NRV provisions, and variances.
• Manage cash flow and working capital; hedge currency exposures.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Finance Manager to lead and oversee the full spectrum of finance and accounting functions within our steel manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial planning and analysis, cost management, inventory control, business performance monitoring, team leadership, and strategic financial support to management.

This role requires strong analytical capabilities, manufacturing costing knowledge, and the ability to drive process improvements while ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the full spectrum of finance, accounting, treasury, taxation, and reporting functions.

Ensure smooth day-to-day finance operations and resolve operational issues promptly.

Review and analyze monthly financial reports and management accounts.

Prepare accurate financial analysis and provide recommendations to support business decisions.

Develop and present financial and management reports for senior management meetings.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Business Planning

Lead the annual budgeting exercise and monthly rolling forecast process.

Monitor business performance against budget and forecast targets.

Conduct financial modelling, scenario planning, and business simulations to support strategic initiatives.

Costing & Inventory Management

Calculate and update monthly standard costing/pricing for products.

Prepare and monitor cost conversion reports and manufacturing cost variances.

Analyze inventory movements and prepare inventory tracking reports.

Monitor slow-moving, obsolete, and blocked inventories.

Calculate and review Net Realizable Value (NRV) provisions for inventory.

Work closely with production and operations teams to improve inventory management and cost efficiency.

Treasury & Risk Management

Monitor foreign currency exposure and hedging activities.

Manage cash flow planning and working capital requirements.

Support financial risk assessment and mitigation initiatives.

Compliance & Regulatory Matters

Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, statutory requirements, and company policies.

Oversee implementation and compliance of E-Invoicing requirements.

Support matters related to Anti-Dumping regulations and reporting requirements.

Liaise with auditors, tax agents, bankers, government authorities, and other external stakeholders.

Leadership & Process Improvement

Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to achieve departmental objectives.

Drive finance transformation and continuous process improvement projects.

Strengthen internal controls, operational efficiency, and reporting accuracy.

Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support organizational goals.

Other Duties

Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Company Management.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification.

Minimum 8-10 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

At least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership position.

Strong knowledge of manufacturing costing, inventory management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Experience in steel, metal, industrial, or manufacturing industries would be an added advantage.

Familiarity with ERP/SAP systems and Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge of E-Invoicing requirements and regulatory compliance.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
