Job summary

Gateway Search in Malaysia is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee financial planning, reporting, budgeting, cost accounting and internal controls for manufacturing operations. You will lead a team across Production, Operations, Procurement and Sales to drive cost optimization, variance analysis, and informed business decisions while ensuring compliance with MFRS.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance with ACCA/CIMA/CPA preferred and have 8–10 years of finance experience,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA preferred.
• 8–10 years of finance experience with 3–5 years in a managerial role.
• Strong manufacturing finance and cost accounting experience.
• Hands-on with standard costing, inventory accounting and budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
• Analyze performance, costs and margins; provide actionable insights.
• Manage product costing, BOMs, inventory valuation and variance analysis.
• Monitor costs and drive cost optimization initiatives.
• Support pricing, capital investment and business cases.
• Prepare financial models, KPI dashboards and management reports.
• Ensure compliance with MFRS, tax and statutory requirements.
• Strengthen internal controls and governance practices.
• Coordinate audits and follow up on findings.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation measures.
• Lead and develop the Costing & Budgeting team.
• Partner with Production, Operations, Procurement, Sales, and others.
• Drive continuous improvement in reporting and costing.

The Finance Manager will oversee financial planning, reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, and internal controls. The role focuses on manufacturing cost management, profitability analysis, financial planning, and providing insights to support business growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities.
• Analyze financial performance, profitability, costs, and margins, providing actionable insights to management.
• Manage product and standard costing, BOMs, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
• Monitor material, labor, and manufacturing overhead costs and drive cost optimization initiatives.
• Support pricing, new product costing, capital investment, and business case evaluations.
• Prepare financial models, forecasts, KPI dashboards, and management reports.
• Ensure compliance with MFRS, tax, statutory requirements, and company policies.
• Strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and governance practices.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and follow up on audit findings.
• Identify financial risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Lead, coach, and develop the local Costing & Budgeting team.
• Partner with Production, Operations, Procurement, Sales, and other functions to support business decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting, costing, and process efficiency.
• Comply with company EHS policies and participate in relevant EHS programs and training.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, ICAEW, or equivalent is preferred.
• 8–10 years of finance and accounting experience, with 3–5 years in a managerial role.
• Strong experience in manufacturing finance and cost accounting.
• Hands-on experience in standard costing, inventory accounting, variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Good knowledge of MFRS, financial reporting, internal controls, and manufacturing accounting.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or NetSuite.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; BI reporting experience is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Excellent speaking & writing in English and Mandarin.
