Job summary

Digital Edge DC in Malaysia seeks a Finance Manager to lead daily financial controllership, close, reporting and compliance with Group policies. The role collaborates with local operations and Group Finance to sustain growth of the data centre platform.

The candidate will manage capex, fixed assets, and tax compliance, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong financial discipline in a capital-intensive environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual financial close for Malaysia entities.
• Prepare balance sheet, P&L and reconciliations; resolve issues or escalate.
• Prepare local management reporting and analysis with clear explanations.
• Coordinate with Group Finance on consolidation and reporting submissions.
• Oversee data centre capex accounting, CIP tracking and fixed assets.
• Ensure costs are correctly classified and capitalised per policy.
• Support project-to-operations handover from a finance perspective.

About the role:

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Finance Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day financial controllership and accounting activities of the Malaysia business, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, strong financial discipline and compliance with Group policies and local statutory requirements. The role will work closely with the local operations, commercial and project teams as well as Group Finance to support the continued growth and operation of Digital Edge's data centre platform in Malaysia.

This is a hands-on in-country role covering financial close and reporting, statutory and tax compliance, cash and working capital management, capex and fixed asset accounting, controls and audit support. The Finance Manager will also help strengthen local finance processes as the business scales and support the transition of new data centre projects from construction into operations.

This role will be based in Malaysia.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close for the Malaysia entities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in accordance with Group timelines and accounting policies.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, provisions and other key accounting schedules, and drive timely resolution of reconciling items.
• Review the Malaysia trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet, investigate significant or unusual movements and ensure issues are appropriately resolved or escalated.
• Prepare local management reporting and supporting analysis, and provide clear explanations of financial performance and key balance sheet movements.
• Work closely with Group Finance on consolidation, reporting submissions and accounting matters requiring Group-level review or technical guidance.
• Oversee accounting for data centre development and operating capex, including project cost tracking, construction-in-progress, capitalisation and fixed asset records.
• Work with project, procurement and operations teams to ensure costs are appropriately classified, supported and capitalised in line with Group accounting policies.
• Support project-to-operations handover from a finance perspective, including asset capitalisation, depreciation commencement and completeness of fixed asset records.
• Review material operating costs, including utilities and other data centre-related expenditure, and ensure accurate accruals and cost recognition.

The successful candidate:

• Experience: Approximately 7–10 years of relevant accounting and finance experience, including strong hands-on financial accounting and controllership experience. Experience in data centres, infrastructure, real estate, telecommunications, utilities or another capital-intensive environment would be advantageous.
• Qualifications: Qualified accountant (ACCA, CPA, CA or equivalent) or a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline with strong relevant experience.
• Technical knowledge: Strong knowledge of IFRS/MFRS and practical experience with financial close, statutory reporting, tax compliance, balance sheet management, fixed assets and capex accounting.
• Malaysia experience: Good understanding of Malaysian statutory, tax and regulatory requirements relevant to a corporate operating environment.
• Systems and tools: Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP systems. NetSuite experience and exposure to finance transformation or system implementation would be advantageous.
