Job summary

Businesslist is seeking a Finance Data Analyst in Kuala Lumpur to transform finance and business requirements into scalable data models and insightful Power BI dashboards. You will analyze P&L, cost drivers, and working capital, support budgeting and forecasting, and deliver data-driven recommendations.

You will develop Power BI datasets, data models, and DAX measures, ensure data quality, and enable self-service analytics for stakeholders across Finance and the business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
• Experience in Financial Analytics, BI, FP&A, or related functions.
• Advanced Power BI skills, including DAX and data modeling (Star Schema).
• Strong SQL proficiency.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex data to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to translate data into actionable business recommendations.
• Exposure to automation technologies such as BI, AI, or RPA (added advantage).

Responsibilities

• Transform finance and business requirements into scalable data models and intuitive Power BI dashboards.
• Analyze financial and operational performance, including P&L trends, cost drivers, margins, and working capital.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis through data-driven insights.
• Develop and maintain Power BI datasets, data models, and DAX measures.
• Create meaningful visualizations and tell compelling stories through reports and presentations.
• Ensure reporting consistency, KPI alignment, and data quality standards.
• Build and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and validation.
• Partner with Finance and business teams to identify risks, opportunities, and process improvements.
• Support automation and continuous improvement initiatives across BI, AI, and RPA solutions.
• Promote self-service analytics and enable stakeholders to make informed decisions independently.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Finance Data Analyst should have:
