Job summary

Everrise Departmental Store Sdn Bhd in Kuching, Sarawak is seeking an experienced Finance Analyst (Business Planning & Analysis) to support budgeting, forecasting and strategic decision-making. You will analyze financial and operational data, build models, and provide insights to drive performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Economics, Business, or related field.
• Candidates with accounting or audit background encouraged to apply.
• Preferably at least 1 year of relevant experience in accounting, audit, financial analysis, budgeting or forecasting.
• Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel; macros, financial modelling or data analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting process, including preparation, consolidation and analysis of financial plans.
• Perform variance analyses between actual results, forecasts and budgets to identify drivers, inefficiencies, risks and opportunities.
• Analyse financial and operational data and prepare insights to support management decision-making.
• Monitor business performance and market trends to support planning and strategic decisions.
• Develop financial models, long-range plans and scenario analyses for potential outcomes.
• Support identification and analysis of key business trends, risks and opportunities and recommend actions to improve performance.
• Gather financial and operational information to align plans with business objectives.

About the role

Everrise Departmental Store Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Assistant Finance Analyst (Business Planning & Analysis) to join our dynamic team in Kuching, Sarawak. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role to support the organization in driving business performance management, contributing to strategic decision-making and enabling effective planning and budgeting. This role requires strong analytical skills and expertise in evaluating business performance and forecasting future outcomes to provide insights that influence decisions and help achieve the company’s financial objectives.

What you'll be doing

Assist in the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including the preparation, consolidation, and analysis of financial plans.

Perform regular variance analyses between actual results, forecasts, and budgets to identify key drivers, inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities.

Assist in analysing financial and operational data and preparing insights and recommendations to support management decision-making.

Monitor business performance and market trends to support business planning and strategic decision-making.

Assist in developing financial models, long-range financial plans, and scenario analyses to evaluate potential business outcomes.

Support the identification and analysis of key business trends, risks, and opportunities, and assist in recommending appropriate actions to improve business performance.

Gather relevant financial and operational information and support the alignment of financial plans with business objectives.

Support management in evaluating business initiatives, projects, and strategic decisions through financial and business analysis.

Prepare financial reports, presentations, dashboards, and other analysis for management and relevant stakeholders.

Perform other related duties and ad-hoc assignments as assigned by management.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Economics, Business, or a related field.

Candidates with an accounting or audit background are encouraged to apply.

Preferably at least 1 year of relevant experience in accounting, audit, financial analysis, business analysis, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, or a related field.

Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Excel macros, financial modelling, or data analysis will be an added advantage.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify meaningful insights.

Detail-oriented, proactive, and willing to learn in a fast-paced business environment.

Able to work independently while also collaborating effectively with different teams and stakeholders.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

A strong interest in developing a career in financial planning, business analysis, and strategic finance.
