Job summary

Airswift is seeking a Field Engineer for Offshore Construction / Field Engineering within the OPS E&C division. The role focuses on planning, supervising, and coordinating resources to deliver engineering outputs for multiple projects, including preparation of installation procedures and coordination with drafting, QA/QC, and HSE teams.

Travel and on-site supervision on offshore platforms/offshore/infield will be required.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil/Mechanical/Chemical/Petroleum/Marine Engineering from a recognised institution.
  • Registered with Board of Engineering Malaysia (BEM).
  • At least 1 year field engineer experience in oil & gas.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, supervise and coordinate resources for multiple projects to meet engineering deliverables.
  • Interpret construction drawings and job scopes; prepare installation procedures.
  • Provide technical support on offshore/onshore installation works and liaise with design and drafting teams.

Job description

Field Engineer Division / Department OPS - E&C - Offshore Construction / Field Engineering

Job Grade: 13 - 14

Reporting To: Head, Field Engineering

Next Reporting Line (next higher level): Head of Operations

Main Responsibility Plan, lead, manage, supervise, advise and assign resources for multiple projects to ensure engineering deliverables are met and assign tender preparations for technical inputs.

Office Review scope of work and interpret construction drawings and job scopes.

Plan and prepare work sequence according to project scope of work according to specific project scope of work with assistance from Senior Field Engineer/Operation Engineer.

Develop installation sketches and drawing for the development of installation procedures.

Perform rigging calculations and selection of rigging and equipment for pipeline and platform installation.

Liaise with Engineering Department for any specific engineering calculation that requires utilization of engineering software and development of new calculation spreadsheets.

Generate work barge anchor pattern for various type of installation mode.

Plan / coordinate and optimize platform/ pipeline components on transportation barge i.e. layout, grillage, sea-fastening and loadout work along with design engineers.

Prepare and outsource subcontractors, project materials, and equipment to be used in installation project.

Raise Materials/ Subcontractors requisition for project and track the material until delivery stage.

Prepare post-job analysis and as-built reports.

Interface internally, Project Services Department, Marine& Logistic Department. Engineering & Drafting Departments, QA/QC & HSE department.

Provide relevant input to Engineering Design department for the development of engineering design drawing (For EPCIC Project).

Communicate with all parties in EPCIC project involved (Engineering Design, Fabrication Yard and HUC Team) for project planning and execution.

Offshore / Onshore Supervise / monitor and provide technical support for offshore/onshore installation works in field/site.

Ensure that the details included in the installation procedures are fully understood and properly applied by the construction personnel and that all project preparation is in order.

Support Senior Field Engineer on-board work vessel/barge/onshore in day-to-day offshore installation work which includes supervision of installation work by the construction crew, attend daily & toolbox meeting, installation aids preparation on deck.

Qualification, Certification and Organization

Degree in Civil/Mechanical/Chemical/Petroleum/Marine Engineering from recognised Higher Learning Institution.

Registered with Board of Engineering Malaysia (BEM).

Experience

Possess at least one (1) year working experience as field engineer under probation/associate training.

Possess previous working experience in oil and gas industry.

Expected Skill / Attribute / Competency

Competent in technical & IT skills and essential software packages e.g. Words, Excel & Projects.

Knowledge in AutoCad in an added advantage.

Proficient in English with good oral and written communication skills.

Any knowledge of other foreign language(s) would be an advantage.

  • able to generate/develop installation sketches and drawings for drafting to formulate installation procedures.
  • able to generate work barge set-up and anchor patterns for offshore installation.
  • able to plan/coordinate and optimise structure/pipeline components layout and loadout arrangement on transportation barge.
  • able to produce post-job analysis and as-built reports.
  • able to plan project needs efficiently to meet target schedule.
  • able to troubleshoot/solve problem/identify technical problems and make necessary technical decisions within the limitation imposed by contractual requirements.
  • able to ensure operations crew on board of vessel receive full information on reports, manuals and drawings.
  • able to follow up on offshore activities progress or in any construction sites as deemed required by project.
