Job summary

PentagonPlus in Malaysia seeks an experienced Factory Manager to oversee two fruit processing facilities in Pagoh and Ayer Hitam. You will drive production efficiency, warehouse control, quality systems, maintenance, and team leadership across both sites.

A strong background in food manufacturing, GMP/HACCP/ISO knowledge, and the ability to communicate in Chinese are essential for coordinating with diverse teams. A related degree and at least 6 years’ experience (2 in management) are required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and monitor daily manufacturing activities across both sites to ensure production targets are met.
• Ensure efficient sorting, processing, and packaging of fruit products in compliance with food safety standards.
• Optimize production workflows to maximize yield and minimize waste.
• Oversee warehouse operations at both locations, including receipt, storage, and dispatch of raw materials and finished goods.
• Implement inventory management systems to ensure stock accuracy and minimize spoilage.
• Coordinate logistics between Pagoh and Ayer Hitam and with external transporters.
• Enforce GMP/HACCP/ISO or other relevant food safety certifications.
• Work with Quality Control to meet customer specs and regulatory requirements.
• Investigate and resolve any quality issues or customer complaints.
• Maintain machinery and facilities, schedule preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Lead and develop a team of supervisors, technicians, and workers across sites.
• Plan workforce allocation and conduct performance reviews.
• Prepare and submit regular production reports to management.
• Ensure compliance with local labor laws and safety regulations.

Role Overview

The incumbent will be responsible for the full spectrum of factory operations, including production efficiency, warehouse management, quality control, maintenance, and workforce supervision. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in food manufacturing and is capable of communicating effectively in Chinese to coordinate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Operations Management

• Plan, organize, and monitor daily manufacturing activities across both sites to ensure production targets are met.
• Ensure the efficient sorting, processing, and packaging of fruit products in compliance with food safety standards.
• Optimize production workflows to maximize yield and minimize waste.

2. Warehouse & Inventory Control

• Oversee warehouse operations at both locations, including the receipt, storage, and dispatch of raw materials (fresh fruits) and finished goods.
• Implement inventory management systems to ensure stock accuracy and minimize spoilage.
• Coordinate logistics between the two sites and with external transporters.

3. Quality Assurance & Food Safety

• Enforce strict adherence to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, ISO, or other relevant food safety certifications.
• Work closely with the Quality Control team to ensure products meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Investigate and resolve any quality issues or customer complaints.

4. Maintenance & Facilities

• Ensure all machinery and equipment are properly maintained to prevent downtime.
• Liaise with the engineering or maintenance team to schedule preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain the overall cleanliness and safety of the factory premises.

5. Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of supervisors, technicians, and general workers across both sites.
• Plan workforce allocation to ensure optimal staffing levels.
• Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs.

6. Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare and submit regular production reports (e.g., output, downtime, yield) to management.
• Ensure compliance with all local labor laws, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.

Candidate Requirements

Education & Experience

• Certificates, Diploma/Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of working experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Must have experience in the FOOD manufacturing industry (experience with fruit processing is an added advantage).

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, etc.).
• Understanding of warehouse management and supply chain principles.

Language & Communication

• Must be able to speak in Chinese to effectively communicate with Chinese-speaking suppliers, contractors, or customers.
• Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is also required for reporting and local compliance.

• Ability to travel frequently between the Pagoh and Ayer Hitam sites (own transport required).
