Position Summary
The Executive, Technical Architecture is responsible for supporting the IT Lead Architect in the evaluation, design, testing and implementation of technology solutions across both application and infrastructure environments.
The role supports the full lifecycle of technology adoption, from researching emerging technologies and conducting Proof-of-Concept (PoC) exercises to assisting in solution design, configuration, testing, deployment and handover.
The position will also contribute to the development of technical and architectural recommendations that support PTP's strategic and operational requirements while ensuring solutions are secure, reliable, scalable and aligned with established IT standards and architecture principles. This reflects the core purpose stated in the requisition.
Key Responsibilities
A. Technical Architecture & Solution Support
- Assist the IT Lead Architect in the design, configuration, testing and deployment of new application and infrastructure solutions.
- Support the assessment of business and technical requirements and translate them into practical technology solutions.
- Assist in evaluating solution architecture, technology compatibility and integration requirements.
- Prepare technical findings and recommendations for consideration by the IT Lead Architect and relevant stakeholders.
- Support the development and maintenance of appropriate technical architecture documentation.
- Ensure proposed solutions are aligned with PTP's technology direction and strategic objectives.
B. Proof-of-Concept (PoC) Management
- Plan and coordinate small-scale Proof-of-Concept (PoC) initiatives for new and emerging technologies.
- Configure and test proposed solutions within controlled environments.
- Define appropriate test scenarios and evaluation criteria.
- Assess the technical feasibility, compatibility, performance and potential business benefits of proposed technologies.
- Document PoC findings, risks, limitations and recommendations.
- Present findings to the IT Lead Architect and relevant stakeholders to support technology adoption decisions.
C. Technology Research & Evaluation
- Conduct continuous research on current and emerging IT technologies, frameworks and industry best practices.
- Keep abreast of developments across application, infrastructure, integration, database and related enterprise technologies.
- Evaluate new technologies that may improve PTP's operational efficiency, system reliability, scalability or digital capabilities.
- Perform comparative assessments of technology options where required.
- Support the IT Lead Architect in developing recommendations for future technology adoption and architecture improvements.
D. Application & Infrastructure Technology
- Support technology solutions across both application and infrastructure environments.
- Assist in configuring, deploying and testing new technology components.
- Support troubleshooting and technical analysis during solution implementation.
- Assist in identifying dependencies between applications, infrastructure, databases and third-party systems.
- Support integration requirements involving internal and external/third-party systems.
- Work with relevant IT teams to ensure new solutions can be effectively integrated into the existing technology ecosystem.
E. IT Project Support
- Participate in and/or facilitate various phases of IT system projects, from product/solution selection through implementation and handover.
- Assist with technical evaluations during product and solution selection.
- Coordinate technical activities with internal IT teams, Business Owners, vendors and other stakeholders.
- Support system configuration, testing, implementation and deployment activities.
- Monitor assigned technical deliverables and highlight potential risks or issues.
- Assist in preparing project documentation and technical handover materials.
- Manage smaller technology initiatives or PoCs under the guidance of the IT Lead Architect.
F. Database & Technical Support
- Provide basic support involving databases and related technology environments.
- Apply basic PL/SQL programming knowledge where required.
- Support database-related testing, queries and technical analysis.
- Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) will be an advantage.
- Work with relevant technical teams to troubleshoot application, database or integration-related issues.
G. Third-Party Integration & Technology Interface
- Support the assessment and implementation of third-party technology interfaces.
- Assist in reviewing integration requirements between PTP systems and external solutions.
- Coordinate technical requirements with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Support interface testing and validation prior to implementation.
- Assist in identifying compatibility, integration and security considerations associated with third-party solutions.
H. IT Security, Governance & SOP Compliance
- Ensure that security requirements are not compromised throughout solution evaluation, PoC, implementation and deployment activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IT policies, standards, SOPs and governance requirements.
- Support proper documentation and approval of technology changes.
- Ensure technical activities within the assigned scope adhere to established departmental SOPs.
- Identify potential technology or security risks and elevate them to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Support the implementation of appropriate controls for new technology solutions.
I. Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
- Work closely with the IT Lead Architect and other IT teams on architecture and technology initiatives.
- Engage with Business Owners to understand technology requirements.
- Coordinate with technology vendors and solution providers during evaluation, testing and implementation.
- Communicate technical concepts and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support technical discussions, demonstrations and presentations where required.
J. Other Responsibilities
- Maintain proper documentation for assigned projects, PoCs and technical assessments.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving capability when addressing technical issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within Technical Architecture.
- Undertake any other duties or special assignments as directed by the superior from time to time.
Qualification & Experience
Academic Qualification
Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Post-Graduate Diploma or Professional Degree in:
- Computer Science;
- Information Technology;
- Computer Engineering;
- Telecommunications Engineering; or
- Other equivalent/relevant disciplines.
Experience
