Job summary

The RuMa Hotel Kuala Lumpur is seeking an AV/Electrical Technician to set up, operate and dismantle audio-visual equipment for meetings, conferences and events. You will handle projectors, LED screens, lighting and sound systems, and provide on-site technical support.

You will work with the Events/Banquet team, maintain equipment, troubleshoot issues, ensure safety, and assist with installation and connectivity.

Qualifications

• Minimum SPM/Certificate/Diploma in Audio Visual, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 1–2 years of working experience in AV operations, electrical maintenance or technical support.
• Knowledge in operating and maintaining audio visual systems, lighting, sound systems, LED screens and projection equipment.
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Able to diagnose and resolve technical and electrical issues efficiently.
• Familiar with safety procedures and maintenance standards.
• Able to read basic technical or electrical drawings and manuals.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically fit and able to handle technical equipment and maintenance work.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and dismantle AV equipment for meetings, conferences, events and functions.
• Operate sound systems, microphones, projectors, LED screens, lighting and other AV equipment.
• Ensure all AV equipment is tested and in good working condition before events commence.
• Provide on-site technical support during events and troubleshoot AV issues promptly.
• Assist clients, organisers and hotel departments with their AV requirements.
• Coordinate with the Events / Banquet team to ensure smooth execution of functions and events.
• Maintain and inspect AV equipment regularly to ensure proper functionality.
• Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs or adjustments to AV equipment when required.
• Maintain proper inventory and records of AV equipment, cables and accessories.
• Ensure all equipment is handled, stored and transported safely.
• Assist with equipment installation, configuration and connectivity, including laptops, HDMI, audio and video systems.
• Monitor sound and visual quality during events and make adjustments when necessary.
• Ensure AV setups are neat, safe and comply with hotel safety standards.
• Liaise with external AV vendors or contractors when additional technical support or equipment is required.
