Job summary

BYD Automotive in Malaysia seeks an EV Charging Operations - Maintenance Engineer to ensure the performance, availability and reliability of the charging network after commissioning. The role covers preventive and corrective maintenance, managing field service providers, spare parts, warranties and escalation procedures to deliver a reliable charging experience for customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in operations & maintenance of EV charging network or related industries.
  • Experience managing field maintenance operations, contractors or technical service providers.
  • Understanding of EV chargers, electrical systems and remote monitoring is an advantage.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities.
  • Experience managing service-level agreements and operational KPIs.
  • Strong contractor and vendor management skills.
  • Good analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to operational incidents and service disruptions.
  • Able to converse in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage.
  • Willingness to travel to operational sites when required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operational performance and availability of the EV charging network.
  • Monitor charger uptime, faults and operational KPIs and coordinate timely corrective actions.
  • Develop and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for EV charging assets.
  • Manage maintenance contractors, field service providers and equipment suppliers against agreed service levels.
  • Coordinate fault diagnosis, technician dispatch, rectification and restoration of charging services.
  • Establish and monitor maintenance SLAs, response times, mean time to repair and repeat failure rates.
  • Manage charger spare parts, critical components, warranties and supplier claims.
  • Work with the Technical Engineer on complex electrical, charger and system reliability issues.
  • Work with the Digital Platform team to diagnose communication, software, CPMS and remote-operation issues.
  • Analyse recurring faults and recommend technical or operational improvements.
  • Maintain an accurate asset register and maintenance history for chargers and associated infrastructure.
  • Develop operating procedures, escalation processes and emergency response arrangements.
  • Review and accept operational handover of newly commissioned charging sites.
  • Monitor vendor performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and maintenance cost.
  • Support lifecycle planning, equipment replacement and network upgrade programmes.
  • Prepare regular operational performance reports for management.

EV Charging Operations - Maintenance Engineer

The Charging Operations & Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the operational performance, availability and reliability of the EV charging network after commissioning. The role manages preventive and corrective maintenance activities, field service providers, charger performance, spare parts and warranty matters to ensure a reliable charging experience for customers.
