Job summary

Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd is seeking an ESG & Community Liaison to act as the primary connection between the organisation, local communities and key stakeholders. The role involves planning and implementing ESG, CSR and community engagement initiatives to advance sustainability objectives.

You will build strong relationships with community leaders, authorities and NGOs, coordinate sessions, manage feedback and maintain comprehensive records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Social Sciences, Community Development, Corporate Communications, Public Relations or related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience in ESG, sustainability, CSR, stakeholder engagement or related role.
• Strong understanding of ESG principles, especially social and community engagement.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel and participate in activities outside normal hours.
• Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English; knowledge of local languages a plus.

Job description

Serve as the primary liaison between the organisation, local communities and relevant stakeholders on ESG and community-related matters.

Build and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, local authorities, NGOs, community organisations and other relevant stakeholders.

Plan, coordinate and implement ESG, CSR and community engagement programmes aligned with the organisation’s sustainability objectives.

Conduct community engagement sessions.

Coordinate community feedback, enquiries and grievances, ensuring appropriate follow-up and timely resolution.

Maintain proper documentation, records and data relating to stakeholder engagement and community programmes.

Prepared ESG, sustainability and community impact reports for management and relevant stakeholders.

Represent the organisation at community meetings, engagement sessions and relevant external events when required.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Social Sciences, Community Development, Corporate Communications, Public Relations or a related field.

Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in ESG, sustainability, CSR, community relations, stakeholder engagement or a related role.

Good understanding of ESG principles, particularly the social and community engagement aspects of sustainability.

Strong stakeholder management, communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.

Strong coordination, documentation and report-writing skills.

Proactive, resourceful and able to work independently as well as collaboratively across departments.

Willingness to travel and participate in community activities outside normal working hours when required.

Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Knowledge of local languages or dialects would be an added advantage.
