About the role
We are seeking an Equipment Engineer/Specialist/Team Lead to join our engineering team in Karangan, Kedah. This is a full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to take on a strategic role within our organization. Depending on your experience and aspirations, this position can be tailored to suit your career goals, whether you prefer to focus on technical expertise as an Equipment Engineer, develop specialized knowledge as a Specialist, or lead and mentor a team as a Team Lead. You will play a crucial role in the design, development, installation, maintenance and optimization of electrical and electronic equipment systems that support our business operations and client deliverables.

Key responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and developing electrical and electronic equipment systems or components to meet technical specifications and performance requirements
• Conducting thorough testing, troubleshooting and diagnostics of equipment to identify faults and implement corrective solutions
• Preparing detailed technical documentation, including schematics, drawings, test reports and maintenance procedures
• Overseeing the installation, commissioning and calibration of equipment in accordance with industry standards and best practices
• Performing routine maintenance and preventive servicing to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams including design engineers, technicians and project managers to deliver projects on time and within budget
• Ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations, environmental standards and quality assurance protocols

If progressing to Team Lead level: mentoring, supervising and coaching junior engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and fostering professional development

If progressing to Team Lead level: managing team performance, workload allocation and contributing to recruitment and staff development initiatives

What we're looking for

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in equipment engineering, electrical systems, or electronic systems design and maintenance
• Strong understanding of electrical and electronic principles, circuit design, and component selection
• Proficiency with industry-standard design and analysis software, such as CAD, SPICE simulation tools, or similar applications
• Experience with test and measurement equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analysers and other diagnostic instruments
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, including safety standards (IEC, ISO) and quality management systems
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues and develop effective solutions
• Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to prepare clear technical reports and communicate findings to stakeholders
• Project management capabilities and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
• For Team Lead applicants: proven experience in team leadership, staff management and mentoring of junior team members
• For Team Lead applicants: demonstrated ability to make decisions, take ownership and lead by example
