Job summary

Bertam Technology Park in Penang seeks an experienced EHS Engineer to drive world-class Environmental, Health & Safety standards across the manufacturing plant. You will report to the Facilities Manager and ensure full regulatory compliance, effective risk management, and strong emergency readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Occupational Health & Safety or related engineering field.
• 5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing environments.
• DOSH Green Book (SHO), CePSWaM, CePIETS, CePBFO are preferred certifications.
• Strong command of English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure 100% compliance with statutory regulations and site permits.
• Lead HIRARC assessments, PTW systems, RCA investigations, and CAPA implementation.
• Manage environmental oversight including waste, emissions, effluent, and SDS compliance.
• Maintain emergency readiness: fire protection, ERT and First Aid training, annual drills.
• Promote safety culture through inductions, contractor safety discipline, and KPI tracking (zero LTI).

About the Role

We're seeking an EHS Engineer t to join our Facilities Department and drive world-class Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards across our manufacturing plant. Reporting directly to the Facilities Manager, this role ensures 100% compliance with statutory regulations, minimizes workplace risks, and strengthens emergency response readiness. You'll collaborate closely with engineering teams to safeguard plant operations, chemical handling, and facility expansions.

Key Responsibilities

• Regulatory Compliance: Liaise with DOSH/JKKP & DOE; manage permits, licenses, and certifications (PMA/PMT).
• Safety & Risk Management: Lead HIRARC assessments, PTW systems, RCA investigations, and CAPA implementation.
• Environmental Oversight: Manage scheduled waste, emissions, effluent discharge, and chemical SDS compliance.
• Emergency Preparedness: Maintain fire protection systems, train ERT & First Aid teams, and coordinate annual drills.
• Safety Culture: Conduct inductions, enforce contractor safety discipline, and track EHS KPIs (zero LTI, near-miss reporting).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5 years' EHS experience in manufacturing/semiconductor packaging.
• Preferred Certifications: DOSH Green Book (SHO), CePSWaM, CePIETS, CePBFO.
• Strong command of English & Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin proficiency is a plus.
• Skilled communicator with analytical problem-solving and risk mitigation expertise.
