Job summary

Tan Boon Ming Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Junior Technician to support the technical team in installation, servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of household appliances and AV products.

The role offers hands-on exposure under technical guidance, with opportunities to learn product installation, basic testing, and safety practices while progressively developing independent service skills. You will update service records and work with senior technicians to ensure timely, quality repairs

Qualifications

• Certificate, Diploma, SKM, or relevant technical qualification in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Refrigeration, or a related field.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply; relevant hands-on technical experience is an advantage.
• Basic understanding of electrical/electronic systems, wiring, and components.
• Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
• Willingness to perform hands-on technical and field service work.
• Able to read manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior technicians in diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining products.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of electrical, electronic, mechanical, or connectivity issues.
• Assist in replacing defective components, wiring, PCB boards, and other parts where required.
• Carry out basic testing after repair or servicing to ensure products function properly.
• Learn to identify faults accurately and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Assist with product installation, setup, testing, and configuration at customer premises.
• Support cabling, wiring, mounting, connection, and equipment setup where applicable.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are handled safely and properly.
• Follow installation procedures, technical manuals, SOPs, and safety requirements.
• Communicate politely and professionally with customers during service visits.
• Provide basic product usage and maintenance guidance under appropriate supervision.
• Work closely with senior technicians and team members to complete assigned jobs efficiently.
• Escalate technical issues that are beyond own knowledge or authority.
• Update service records, job status, parts used, and work completed accurately.
• Take proper care of company tools, testing equipment, spare parts, and other company property.
• Complete assigned service jobs within the expected timeline and follow up on outstanding work.
• Actively participate in technical training, coaching, and on-the-job learning.
• Develop knowledge of different products, common faults, repair methods, and technical procedures.
• Adhere to PMF by understanding KPIs, tracking achievements, maintaining performance records, and taking ownership of improvement.
• Accept feedback positively and demonstrate continuous improvement in technical competency, productivity, and service quality.
