Prudential’s purpose is to be partners for every life and protectors for every future. We create a culture where diversity is celebrated and inclusion is assured. We provide a platform for our people to do their best work and make an impact to the business, and we support our people’s career ambitions.
In our transformation journey ahead as a group, we intend to build loosely coupled but tightly aligned components that are built expecting to be reused while anticipating change. We need to converge our varied workloads to common applications and solutions across the group. All applications need to adopt common services, platforms, architectural principles, and design patterns.
We need to create a framework for multi‑cloud adoption and migration, build a cloud suitability framework for workloads, provide design for cloud implementation and automate software integration and deployment, and provision infrastructure as code.
Engineering teams then design and build new capabilities & features, beginning with an end‑state vision of how their applications and infrastructure will operate within this architecture, and engineer them accordingly. This sets a common set of parameters and tools for technology, providing a consistent approach to security and reliability. In addition, architectural agility has a causal relationship with potential strategic and operational benefits.
The Enterprise Architecture team is responsible for enabling the above ambition and guiding the design and development of architecture framework and policies which guide our technology landscape for the group, encompassing business, infrastructure, data, application and security architecture, that meet current and future enterprise business strategy.
Role
This role requires the candidate to curate & apply depth of knowledge to help the Enterprise architecture team deliver the above. In addition, the role will focus deeply on:
- Asia and Africa geographies to guide their future architecture roadmap.
- Multi‑cloud infrastructure with regards to policy and design framework.
- Work closely with GBS Business Design Lead, Chief of GBS and functional leads to establish new standards and develop target architectures for GBS.
- Conduct architecture assessments and define target state solutions.
- Provide the technical scope, defining and driving the best solution to meet the technical performance, scalability, flexibility, operations and capability needs of functional teams.
- Support technology solutioning and estimating in proposals, planning and pricing.
- Develop long‑term technology strategies centered on business objectives.
- Identify services that will improve performance, enhance support, and increase capabilities.
- Envision and develop the long‑term architectural direction, with emphasis on platforms and product reusable components.
- Formulate the Group Infrastructure policy and multi‑cloud framework and design, in conjunction with other domain architects representing Digital, Data, AI, Engineering, Security, operations and local business units.
- Build future state architecture to encompass business strategy with design consideration of convergence, modernization, cost‑efficiency, business functionality, interpretability, cloud native design, resilience, security and future‑proofing.
- Build an ongoing view on emergent market landscape for technology insights, direction, vendors, and methods.
- Identify and evaluate alternative design options and trade‑offs to handle both functional and non‑functional requirements; recommend designs that consider current applications & architecture, operating models as well as end target state architecture.
- Responsible for end‑to‑end architecture, high‑ & low‑level designs of various systems and applications in line with Asia group strategy; lead the preparation of detailed solution specifications to form the basis for development & modification of applications; define integration patterns.
- Ensure adoption and implementation of defined solutions; provide technical expertise to enable the application design & iteration; collaborate with technical teams to develop and agree system integration plans and review progress for Africa, India and Asia.
- Lead one of the Enterprise Architecture clusters when required to create harmony in application architectures.
- Ensure that extensions and additions to the defined architecture are undertaken frequently in line with every evolving business and technology landscape but go through rigorous vetting processes.
- Ensure that the collaborative nature of capabilities such as design and engineering is coupled with tight governance around non‑negotiables like security, availability and performance.
Who We Are Looking For

- Proven experience as an Enterprise Solution Architect in the last 3 years in insurance (preferred) or banking industry, with overall experience between 10 to 15 years.
- Demonstrated ability to understand business strategy & processes & its successful translation into technology solutions.
- Experience with DevSecOps, cloud engineering, SRE (prefer Azure and GCP).
- Experience with software development and system administration.
- Excellent knowledge of technical architecture and modern design patterns, including web and mobile app, API architecture, N‑tier, event driven, microservices, serverless functions, no code/low code concepts, etc.
- Deep end‑to‑end architecture understanding, including Enterprise Java Stack, front‑end technologies (React Native, Flutter), mobile applications (Android and iOS), iPaaS middleware, databases (SQL & NoSQL like MongoDB Atlas, Postgres etc), data lake, data bricks, data warehouses, iSeries & DB2 based systems, RESTful APIs.
