Job summary

Sun Pharma Malaysia is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager (Maintenance) to lead the Maintenance Engineering function and ensure reliability of facilities, utilities, and process equipment. You will drive asset care strategies, oversee capital budgets, and mentor a high-performance team.

The role requires a minimum of 8 years in pharma/medical devices, a related engineering degree, and strong knowledge of cGMP and regulatory audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience as an Engineering Maintenance Manager in Pharmaceutical or Medical Device industries.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement asset care strategies to improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Lead engineering teams for installation and maintenance of facilities, utilities, and process equipment.
• Optimize maintenance costs while enhancing asset availability using advanced techniques (RCM, risk-based approaches, Lean/Six Sigma).
• Maintain technical expertise for key equipment and utilities (e.g., formulation equipment, boiler, air compressor, chiller, purified water plant, HVAC).
• Provide guidance on design and procurement of process equipment and utilities for pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging.
• Prepare and manage operating and capital expenditure budgets effectively.
• Coach, develop, and motivate team members to foster a high-performance culture.
• Manage third-party vendors, ensuring compliance and performance standards.
• Drive productivity improvements and upskill staff for new technologies.
• Lead audits by regulatory agencies (e.g., NPRA, CQA) and ensure adherence to cGMP standards.
• Implement and maintain Quality Systems within the maintenance function.
• Act as custodian of safety and compliance for engineering activities on site.
