Job summary

Setel is hiring an Engineer, Site Reliability to own and improve the reliability of our infrastructure across Kubernetes, databases, monitoring, and CI/CD platforms. You will automate repetitive tasks, reduce MTTR, and contribute to robust systems with thorough documentation and best practices.

You will work with Git, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and various databases, queues, and caches. The role supports hybrid work in Malaysia, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, DevOps, or software engineering.
• Proficient in Git version control.
• Proficient in AWS services.
• Proficient in Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficient or advanced with NoSQL, RDBMS, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis.

Responsibilities

• Support deployment and maintain infrastructure components (Kubernetes clusters, databases, monitoring, CI/CD, networks, firewalls).
• Document runbooks, RCAs, KBs, and architecture decisions in Confluence with clarity.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines for safer, faster delivery.
• Review code for quality and adherence to standards.
• Adhere to company policies and assist with role-related tasks.

Role Purpose:

The Engineer, Site Reliability is a hands‑on role where you are an independent contributor and empowered to deliver robust and reliable systems. This role challenges you to proactively automate the repetitive tasks, improve and reduce Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR) during incidents. Embrace this opportunity to innovate, streamline operations and directly impact system stability and efficiency by proper integration on the tasks, technical best practices through a code review.

In this role you will:

• Support the deployment and maintain infrastructure components (Kubernetes clusters, database clusters, monitoring stacks, CI/CD platforms, networks, and firewalls) to ensure high reliability, resilience, and cost-effectiveness across all platforms.
• Write, update, and ruthlessly simplify all technical documentation (runbooks, RCAs, KB articles, architecture decisions) in Confluence using strict KISS principles immediately after every change to eliminate tribal knowledge and ensure zero ambiguity for on‑call and collaborations.
• Maintain CICD Pipeline to improve developer experience and ensure safer and faster delivery
• Review team members code by evaluating adherence to better code quality standard to ensure high quality software delivery
• General Responsibilities: All employees are required to ensure adherence to the compliance of company policies, industry regulations and legal requirements. All employees are expected to assist with tasks, projects, and other duties related to the role, as and when deemed necessary.

You're a great fit if you have:

• 2+ years of experience in site reliability engineering or DevOps or software engineering.
• Proficient in version control systems (VCS) like Git.
• Proficient in cloud technology especially AWS services.
• Proficient in containerisation technology such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficient or Advanced in NoSQL, RDBMS, event, queue and cache databases such PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, RabbitMQ and Redis.
• Basic knowledge in infrastructure as code (IaC) and CICD technology such as Terraform, GitOps (Eg ArgoCD / Github Action) and GitOps Workflows (Eg Argo Workflow / Github Workflows).
• Basic knowledge in networking and security especially around load balancing, firewall, encryptions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; OR
• Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
