Job summary

Exyte in Malaysia is seeking an experienced I&C/ELV engineer to support design, coordination, and execution of systems for high-tech facilities including semiconductor fabs and data centers.

You will develop engineering designs, perform calculations, review drawings, coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, and civil teams, participate in design reviews and site inspections, and assist during commissioning to ensure client requirements and standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in I&C/ELV engineering for high-tech facilities (engineers).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review I&C and ELV system designs for design-and-build projects.
  • Coordinate interfaces with process, mechanical, electrical, architectural, and civil teams.
  • Support construction activities, site inspections, and commissioning.
  • Review vendor submissions and assist in technical bid evaluations.

Job description

Role Overview

Support the design, engineering, coordination, and execution of Instrumentation & Control (I&C) and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems for high-tech facilities, semiconductor manufacturing plants, pharmaceutical facilities, life sciences projects, advanced manufacturing facilities, and data centers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing engineering designs, coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces, supporting construction activities, and ensuring project delivery in accordance with client requirements, applicable codes, standards, budget, and schedule.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design & Development
  • Develop and review designs for Instrumentation & Control (I&C) and ELV systems for design-and-build projects.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, system architecture drawings, network layouts, schematics, and design reports.
  • Design and coordinate the following systems:
    • Building Management System (BMS)
    • SCADA Systems
    • PLC-based Control Systems
    • Fire Alarm System (FAS)
    • Public Address & Voice Alarm (PAVA)
    • CCTV Surveillance Systems
    • Access Control Systems (ACS)
    • Intrusion Detection Systems
    • Structured Cabling Systems
    • Data & Telecommunications Networks
    • Master Clock Systems
    • Audio Visual Systems
  • Prepare equipment datasheets, control philosophies, I/O schedules, instrument lists, and cable schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, local authority regulations, and international engineering standards.
Project Coordination
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, architectural, and civil/structural disciplines throughout project execution.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOP workshops, client meetings, and multidisciplinary coordination sessions.
  • Review vendor submissions, technical proposals, and shop drawings.
  • Support procurement activities through technical bid evaluations and vendor assessments.
Construction & Site Support
  • Provide engineering support during construction, installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Review RFIs, method statements, installation drawings, and as-built documentation.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with approved designs and quality requirements.
  • Resolve technical issues arising during construction and commissioning activities.
  • Support system integration, loop checking, FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
Education and Experience
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience
Engineer Level
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in I&C and/or ELV engineering.
  • Experience in industrial, commercial, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or data center projects preferred.
Senior Engineer Level
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in Design & Build, EPC, or EPCM projects.
  • Experience in high-tech facilities, semiconductor fabs, life sciences, pharmaceutical plants, cleanrooms, and mission-critical facilities is highly preferred.
