PERSOL Workforce Solutions Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to lead and perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on instrumentation and control systems, including field devices, valves, and analyzers.
You will calibrate and test instruments, troubleshoot complex faults, install and commission new systems, and maintain detailed documentation for ISO/MI and safety compliance.
Maintenance & Repair:Lead and perform complex preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on all instrumentation and control systems, including field devices, control valves, safety systems, flowmeters and analyzers.
Calibration & Testing:Oversee and conduct routine and non-routine calibration and testing of instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability, using specialized test equipment and software, coordinate with OEM supplier for calibration activities.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:Utilize advanced diagnostic techniques and problem-solving skills to identify the root cause of complex equipment failures and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
Installation & Commissioning:Supervise and participate in the installation and commissioning of new instrumentation and automation systems, ensuring they meet project specifications and design requirements.
Documentation & Compliance:Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, calibration records, and system modifications in compliance with quality systems (e.g., ISO, MI) and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, SH&E).
Leadership & Mentoring:Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training junior technicians and new personnel, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Collaboration & Support:Work closely with engineering, operations, and other cross-functional teams to support projects, improve system reliability, and address operational issues.
Inventory & Planning:Assist with identifying, ordering, and managing critical spare parts inventory, and help develop detailed job plans and maintenance schedules.
Proficiency in the maintenance and troubleshooting of PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and HMI systems.
Strong understanding of various field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level sensors, analyzers, control valves, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including P&IDs, schematics, and loop diagrams.
Familiarity with industry standards, safety protocols, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as JDE.
Reading Diagrams: Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs (Process & Instrumentation Diagrams), electrical schematics, and wiring blueprints.
Equipment Mastery: Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control centers (MCCs), and 120V to 480V (or higher) power distribution.
Safety Standards: Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA regulations, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Hand & Power Tools: Skilled use of specialized hand tools, soldering irons, and precision testing equipment.
Soft Skills,Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, perform RCA, excellent attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the capacity to work both independently (with minimal supervision) and as part of a team.
Education: Typically requires a High School Diploma or Competent Certificate or Associate’s degree in Instrumentation Technology or Electrical Engineering.
Experience: Entry-level roles may require basic training, while journey-level positions often demand 4–5 years of industrial experience.
Problem-Solving: Ability to apply critical thinking to diagnose root causes of complex system malfunctions.
Physical Stamina: Must be able to work in confined spaces
Availability: Often requires being on-call for emergencies, nights, and weekends
