Job summary

OCI Tokuyama Semiconductor Materials Sdn Bhd is seeking an Environmental Specialist to implement and maintain the EMS and ISO 14001 standards at our Sarawak site in Samalaju Industrial Park, Bintulu.

You will ensure compliance with environmental laws, coordinate monitoring activities, and manage waste handling while supporting audits and training programs. This role focuses on continual improvement and sustainability initiatives for the manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Science or related discipline.
• 2-5 years of experience in environmental management, compliance, or sustainability within a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with waste management, pollution control, environmental monitoring, and EIA.
• Working knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Ability to conduct environmental inspections and identify environmental risks and hazards.
• Experience in managing scheduled waste and environmental compliance activities.
• Willing to be based at Samalaju Industrial Park, Bintulu, Sarawak.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the EMS and ISO 14001 requirements.

• Coordinate environmental monitoring activities, including sampling, inspections, and consultant management.
• Conduct environmental site inspections and report environmental issues or non-compliance findings.
• Monitor and follow up on corrective and preventive actions to address environmental concerns.
• Manage scheduled waste handling, storage, transportation, and disposal in compliance with legal requirements.
• Monitor waste contractors' performance and maintain waste management records and documentation.
• Prepare and maintain environmental reports, records, permits, and compliance documentation.
• Support environmental budget planning and track environmental-related costs and expenditures.
• Coordinate and support internal and external environmental audits and compliance assessments.
• Organize environmental training and awareness programs while maintaining competency records.
• Drive continual improvement initiatives to enhance environmental performance and sustainability practices.
