Job summary

Sapphire Stream Technology Sdn. Bhd. in Penang is seeking an embedded software engineer to design and develop new products and software features for two-way radios, participating in the full SDLC.

You will write clean C/C++ code for embedded systems, perform design and code reviews, develop tests, and collaborate with hardware and test engineers.

Applicants should have a degree and 2–7 years of experience, with familiarity in RTOS, BSP, device drivers, and Agile methods as a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Telecommunications/Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• 2–7 years of software development experience (fresh graduates welcome).
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming and solid OOP understanding.
• Understanding of microcontroller operation in embedded systems.
• Experience with board bring-up, BSP, device drivers, bootloader, device tree, memory management, SPI, I2C, UART, toolchains, compilers and hardware-software integration.
• Hands-on experience with RTOS and embedded software development; familiarity with AI-based coding tools (e.g., CoPilot).
• Knowledge of LTE/DMR specifications is advantageous; familiarity with Agile/Scrum is a plus.

Conduct and participate in design and code reviews to maintain high code quality. Develop and execute unit, integration, and system-level tests.

Debug and troubleshoot software issues in embedded systems using appropriate tools and techniques.

Collect and analyze data to monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs).

Contribute to team performance goals and adhere to quality metrics.

Deliver projects on time and within budget while adapting to evolving requirements in a dynamic agile environment.

Basic Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Telecommunications/Computer Engineering or Computer Science.

Preferably 2–7 years of experience in software development. (fresh graduates are welcome to apply)

Proficiency in C/C++ programming and a solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.

Understanding of microcontroller operation in embedded systems.

Experience with board bring-up, BSP, device drivers, bootloader, device tree, memory management, SPI, I2C, UART, toolchains, compilers, and hardware-software integration.
System debugging and analytical skills.

Hands-on experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and embedded software development.
Familiarity with AI-based coding tools (e.g., CoPilot).

Knowledge of LTE/DMR specifications is advantageous.

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies is a plus.

Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functional teams.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
