Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking an embedded software engineer to design, develop, and enhance features for two-way radios. You will write robust C/C++ code for embedded systems and participate in the full SDLC, collaborating with hardware, front-end, and test teams to ensure high-quality integration.

You will debug, test, and optimize software in an agile, multi-site environment while contributing to KPI-driven performance metrics and future IP development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or computer science field.
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills and understanding of OOP.
  • Experience with embedded software development and microcontroller operation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of LTE/DMR specifications is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and enhance software features for two-way radios across the full SDLC.
  • Write clean, well-documented C/C++ code for embedded systems and conduct reviews to ensure quality.
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, and system-level tests; debug and troubleshoot embedded software.
  • Collaborate with front-end architects, hardware, test engineers, and other stakeholders for successful integration.
  • Monitor KPIs through data collection and analysis; deliver projects on time within budget in an agile environment.
  • Contribute to a global, multi-site development team and support innovation and IP development.

Job Description

Contribute as an individual engineer to design, develop, and enhance software features for two-way radios. Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from requirements analysis and design through implementation, testing, and deployment. Analyze software requirements and assess their feasibility, considering quality, performance, time, and budget constraints. Collaborate with front-end architects, hardware engineers, test engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure optimal feature implementation and integration. Write clean, well-documented, and testable C/C++ code for embedded systems, adhering to coding standards and best practices. Conduct and participate in design and code reviews to ensure high code quality and maintainability. Develop and execute unit, integration, and system-level tests. Debug and troubleshoot software issues in embedded systems using various debugging tools and techniques. Collect and analyze data to monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs). Contribute to team performance goals and adhere to quality metrics. Deliver projects on time and within budget, adapting to evolving requirements in a dynamic agile environment. Work effectively in a collaborative, multi-site, global development environment. Contribute to the innovation and development of intellectual property that enhances our product offerings.

Basic Requirements

Bachelor’s in Electrical/Electronic/Telecommunications/Computer Engineering or Computer Science. Good C/C++ programming skills and a solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles. Understanding of microcontroller operation in embedded systems. System debugging and analytical skills. Hands-on experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and embedded software development is a plus. Knowledge of LTE/DMR specifications is advantageous. Knowledge or experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies is a plus. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate across different functional teams. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Flexibility to accommodate occasional short-notice work arrangements due to project/business needs.
