Job summary

Persol Technical Services Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks an Electrical Technician to install, test, commission and maintain switchgear in industrial settings. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on LV/MV systems and diagnose equipment faults on site.

Reading electrical drawings and adhering to safety standards are essential. Driving license and willingness to travel for on-site service are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum SPM, SKM Level 2/3 or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• 2–3 years hands-on experience in electrical installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
• Experience with LV switchboards and ACB/MCCB preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, commission, service and maintain switchboards and switchgear.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on LV/MV electrical systems.
• Inspect and replace components such as ACB/MCCB, contactors, relays.
• Conduct insulation resistance, continuity and functional testing.
• Prepare service reports and maintain testing records.
• Comply with safety regulations, LOTO and PTW requirements.
• Attend on-site service assignments including emergencies as needed.

Electrical Technician – Switchgear & Switchboard Services

This role involves installation, testing, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of electrical switchboards and switchgear in industrial settings. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) electrical systems, conduct electrical testing, and diagnose equipment failures.

Key responsibilities

• Perform installation, testing, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of electrical switchboards and switchgear
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) electrical systems
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical components, including ACB, MCCB, MCB, contactors, relays, and other switchgear components
• Conduct electrical testing, including insulation resistance, contact resistance, continuity, and functional testing
• Perform servicing of Air Circuit Breakers (ACB), Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCB), and associated protection systems
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams (SLD), and wiring schematics
• Identify electrical faults, diagnose equipment failures, and recommend corrective actions
• Prepare service reports, maintenance records, and testing documentation
• Comply with electrical safety regulations, company HSE procedures, and client site requirements
• Attend on-site service assignments, including emergency breakdowns when required

About you

• Minimum SPM, SKM Level 2/3, Certificate, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline
• Preferably 2–3 years of hands‑on experience in electrical installation, maintenance, servicing, or troubleshooting
• Experience in servicing LV switchboards, ACB, MCCB, motor control centres (MCC), and electrical distribution systems
• Familiar with electrical testing equipment such as insulation resistance testers, multimeters, clamp meters, and contact resistance testers
• Able to read and understand electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
• Knowledge of electrical safety procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) systems
• Willing to travel and work at industrial plants, factories, and customer sites
• Possess a valid driving licence
• Able to work independently and as part of a technical service team
