Job summary

CLLS Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer in Kulai, Malaysia, to manage diesel generator systems for data centres, industrial facilities, and commercial projects.

You will troubleshoot, test, commission, and maintain generator sets, with hands-on work across multiple brands and 20 kVA to 3,000 kVA capacities. Strong English communication and field readiness are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in diesel generator installation, servicing, troubleshooting, testing and commissioning.
• Hands-on experience with diesel generator engines from Volvo Penta, Perkins, Doosan, MTU.
• Experience with generator sets ranging from 20 kVA to 3,000 kVA.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair diesel generator sets and related equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance including servicing and component replacement.
• Test and commission generators, including load bank tests.
• Adjust voltage and speed, and program generator controls to meet customer requirements.
• Install and troubleshoot control panels, ATS, and distribution equipment.
• Read schematics and engineering drawings for installations.

What You'll Be Doing

• Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults in diesel generator sets and associated equipment.
• Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine servicing, inspections, oil and filter changes, and replacement of defective components.
• Testing & Commissioning: Conduct generator functional tests, load bank testing, site commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Generator Controls: Perform voltage adjustments, speed control settings, and generator programming to meet customer requirements.
• Electrical Systems: Install, configure, rewire, and troubleshoot control panels, voltage regulators, circuit breakers, and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS).
• Electrical Installation: Service and repair electrical panels, lighting systems, power outlets, and generator wiring.
• Technical Documentation: Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all site activities comply with safety requirements and identify potential hazards before work begins.
• Customer Support: Provide professional on-site technical support and maintain positive working relationships with customers.

What We're Looking For

• Diploma or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in diesel generator installation, servicing, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning.
• Hands-on experience with diesel generator engines from brands such as Volvo Penta, Perkins, Doosan, MTU, or equivalent.
• Experience working with generator sets ranging from 20 kVA to 3,000 kVA.
• Good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, generator controls, and power distribution equipment.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Good command of spoken and written English.
• Possession of a valid A4 Chargeman competency certificate will be an added advantage.
• Able to work independently, travel to customer sites, and support site activities as required.
