Job summary

AIXTRON Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in EPlan to own complex electrical design projects at Batu Kawan, Penang, joining a global semiconductor equipment leader.

You will lead large EPlan projects, define control architectures, and produce high-quality documentation to ensure manufacturability and lifecycle excellence. 5–10 years experience, degree in Electrical Engineering, fluent English. Occasional travel to Germany and other sites.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5–10 years of professional experience in electrical design and automation engineering.
• Fluent English communication (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize main and low power distribution systems with focus on reliability, maintainability, EMC and compliance.
• Structure and maintain large EPlan projects in accordance with internal standards.
• Define PLC structures and scalable automation topologies across modules.
• Integrate sensors, actuators and motion systems for stable performance.
• Interpret and apply ISO, CE and SEMI standards across interfaces.
• Conduct FMEA and structured risk assessments, driving mitigations to closure.
• Manage requirements, documentation and change processes within PLM and ERP systems.
• Drive Design for Manufacturing and cost-conscious engineering decisions.
• Support root cause analysis and structured problem solving (e.g., 8D).

AIXTRON’s new manufacturing & engineering hub in Malaysia

We are building a new greenfield manufacturing and engineering hub in Batu Kawan, Penang. The site will provide a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment for assembly & testingof our high-end systems and will contribute to engineering for the next generation of products. Operations are planned to start in 2027 with a rapid ramp-up. In this role, you lead large and technically demanding EPlan projects from concept to release. You define intelligent, future‑ready control architectures and create high-quality documentation that ensures seamless manufacturing, smooth serviceability, and long-term lifecycle excellence.

Responsibilities

• Structure and maintain large Eplan projects in accordance within internal standards
• Define programmable logic controller structures and scalable automation topologies across modules
• Integrate sensors, actuators and motion systems for stable and robust performance
• Interpret and apply international standards such as ISO, CE and SEMI across interfaces
• Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and structured risk assessments, driving mitigation actions to closure
• Manage requirements, documentation and change processes within product lifecycle management and enterprise resource planning systems
• Drive Design for Manufacturing and cost‑conscious engineering decisions
• Support root cause analysis and structured problem solving (for example 8D methodology)

Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• 5–10 years of professional experience in electrical design and automation engineering
• Strong expertise in Eplan, power architecture and control system design
• Solid understanding of vacuum, thermal and process fundamentals
• Experience with system architecture definition and cross-module integration
• Proven ability to lead technical modules and collaborate across disciplines and cultures
• Structured, analytical mindset with strong ownership and accountability
• Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken)

Working Conditions

• Role based at AIXTRON Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
• Majority of work at the Batu Kawan site.
• Occasional travel to Headquarters in Germany or other regional sites.
