Job summary

ATW Technology Co. in Malaysia is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead installation, commissioning and testing of automation equipment across PV and related manufacturing lines.

You will interpret electrical drawings, review schematics, coordinate with mechanical and software teams, supervise technicians, ensure safety compliance, and deliver commissioning reports and handover documents.

This role requires strong teamwork and proactive problem solving to meet project schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience with commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of automation equipment.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, motors, sensors, and actuators; able to interpret drawings.

Job Description: Electrical Engineer

1. Commissioning and Equipment Setup

• Lead and coordinate the installation, setup, and commissioning of automation equipment in accordance with electrical drawings, engineering specifications, and project requirements.
• Review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system configurations to ensure proper installation and functionality.
• Conduct initial inspections, system checks, and commissioning tests to ensure equipment operates safely and meets technical requirements.

2. Electrical Testing and Troubleshooting

• Perform and supervise functional testing, performance verification, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, control circuits, sensors, actuators, and automation equipment.
• Diagnose electrical and control system faults, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Support PLC-related testing, I/O verification, signal checking, and control system validation during equipment commissioning.
• Coordinate with mechanical, software, and other engineering teams to resolve cross-functional technical issues and ensure timely project completion.

3. Team Supervision and Task Coordination

• Supervise and guide a team of Technicians in equipment installation, wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
• Allocate daily tasks, monitor work progress, and ensure that commissioning activities are completed according to project schedules and quality requirements.
• Provide technical guidance, on-the-job training, and coaching to Technicians to improve their technical competency and work efficiency.
• Monitor team performance, work quality, and adherence to established procedures, and provide timely feedback to team members.
• Escalate technical challenges, resource constraints, and project delays to the relevant management personnel.

4. Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of commissioning activities, test results, troubleshooting findings, and equipment performance.
• Prepare commissioning reports, testing records, technical documentation, and handover documents for internal and customer review.
• Track commissioning progress and report project status, outstanding issues, and corrective action plans to management.

5. Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement

• Ensure all commissioning and testing activities comply with engineering standards, quality procedures, and project specifications.
• Identify recurring technical issues and recommend improvements to equipment reliability, commissioning efficiency, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce rework, improve productivity, and enhance overall commissioning quality.

6. Safety and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with workplace safety requirements and established procedures during installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Identify and report potential safety hazards, electrical risks, and non-compliance issues, and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.
• Promote safe working practices and ensure Technicians follow relevant safety procedures when handling electrical systems and operating equipment.

• Proven experience in commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of automation equipment, preferably in PV or similar manufacturing industries
• Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, including PLCs, motors, sensors, and actuator
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manual
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
