Job summary

JDE Peet’s Malaysia invites an Electrical & Automation Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and improve electrical, automation, and control systems across the plant. You will support preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

The role covers PLC/SCADA, CCN infrastructure, instrumentation, and power distribution, with collaboration across Engineering and Production to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, SKM, or Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Instrumentation, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in maintenance, electrical, automation, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in FMCG, food manufacturing, consumer goods, or industrial manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical maintenance, industrial wiring, motors, drives, sensors, control panels, and power distribution systems.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial automation systems.
  • Basic understanding of industrial networks, data communication, and manufacturing control systems.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices, troubleshooting methodologies, and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, FSSC 22000, GMP, ISO standards, or food safety requirements will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, panel layouts, and control diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure during equipment breakdowns.
  • Good analytical and technical decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Proactive mindset with continuous improvement orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, automation, and control system issues to minimize downtime and support continuous production.
  • Support the maintenance and optimization of electrical equipment, power distribution systems, instrumentation, PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial control systems.
  • Assist with the installation, testing, commissioning, and improvement of machinery, equipment, and automation systems.
  • Monitor equipment performance, conduct inspections, and implement corrective actions to improve operational reliability and productivity.
  • Support manufacturing system infrastructure, industrial networks, and cybersecurity controls to ensure system availability and data integrity.
  • Participate in equipment upgrades, automation projects, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence and achieve business objectives.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, technical documentation, spare parts inventories, and system reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including adherence to established maintenance and work permit procedures.
  • Support audit activities and contribute to maintaining company standards for operational, quality, and safety performance.
  • Promote a safe working environment and actively participate in workplace safety, reliability, and continuous improvement programs.

The Electrical & Automation Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving electrical, automation, and control systems across the manufacturing plant to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
