Job summary

Greatech Group is seeking an EHS Support role in Penang, Malaysia to assist with environmental, safety, and health management across plant operations. The position involves audits, inspections, risk assessment support, incident handling, and safety training collaboration with production teams.

The role emphasizes compliance with ISO standards, PPE usage, contractor safety oversight, and proactive safety awareness initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Assist SHO in plant-wide environmental, safety, and health audits and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
• Conduct routine safety inspections in production, assembly, warehouse, and engineering areas (≥4 hours/day).
• Perform field data collection and monitoring to identify and mitigate risks.
• Support risk assessments, including HIRARC processes.
• Identify unsafe acts/conditions and report findings for corrective action.
• Assist incident investigations and monitor incident trends and data.
• Follow up on action items from safety site walkabouts with EHS Engineer.
• Assist in safety training programs for new and existing employees with trainers.
• Support organization and delivery of toolbox talks and safety awareness programs.
• Monitor the Scheduled Waste Management System and ensure proper handling.
• Ensure proper use of PPE by employees and contractors.
• Monitor contractor safety compliance during installation, maintenance, and site activities.
• Serve as first responder during emergencies, especially safety-related incidents.
• Assist with day-to-day EHS activities and related documentation.
• Perform other duties as instructed by superiors.
• Comply with ISO standards and adhere to safety SOPs, work instructions, policies and guidelines.

Job description

1. Assist the SHO in ensuring plant-wide environmental, safety, and health audit activities are conducted effectively and comply with applicable legal requirements.

2. Conduct routine safety inspections in production, assembly, warehouse, and engineering areas (at least four hours per day).

3. Conduct field data collection and compliance monitoring to identify and mitigate potential risks.

4. Support risk assessments, including HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control).

5. Identify unsafe acts and conditions and report findings for corrective action.

6. Assist in incident investigations and monitor incident trends and related data.

7. Assist the EHS Engineer in following up on action items identified during safety site walkabouts.

8. Assist in conducting safety training programs for new and existing employees in collaboration with production and assembly trainers.

9. Support the organization and delivery of toolbox talks and safety awareness programs.

10. Monitor the Scheduled Waste Management System.

11. Monitor and ensure the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by employees and contractors.

12. Monitor contractor compliance with safety requirements during installation, maintenance, and other site activities.

13. Serve as a first responder during emergencies, particularly safety-related incidents.

14. Assist with day-to-day EHS activities and related documentation.

15. Other duties and assignments as instructed by superiors from time to time.

16. To comply with all requirements of ISO (inclusive of all standards approved by the Management) and adhere to general safety practices, standard operating procedure, work instructions, policies and guidelines.
