Job summary

Quetta Byte Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an EHS Officer to lead local implementation of the EHS management system at Bandar Cemerlang, Johor Bahru.

The role focuses on site safety supervision, risk assessment, emergency planning, and regulatory compliance for ongoing construction activities. You will deliver bilingual safety trainings and toolbox talks, coordinate with authorities, and maintain robust safety culture across local and foreign workers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in construction site safety or EHS management.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety practices, high‑risk work procedures, and Malaysian regulations.
• Ability to prepare EHS plans, method statements, risk assessments, and compliance documents.
• Experience in safety training, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.
• Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is a plus.

Job Title: EHS OFFICER
Location : Bandar Cemerlang, Johor Bahru

Responsibilities

• Local Implementation of EHS Management System

  • Implement and optimize localized EHS policies, procedures, and emergency response plans in accordance with Malaysian regulations and project requirements to ensure full compliance and safe project operations.

• Site Safety Supervision

  • Conduct routine site inspections and on-site safety monitoring.
  • Supervise high-risk activities, identify and correct unsafe practices, and ensure timely rectification and closure of safety hazards.

• Risk & Emergency Management

  • Carry out risk identification, assessment, and control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop preventive measures for high-risk activities and manage emergency response, incident investigation, reporting, and corrective actions.

• Training & Safety Culture

  • Deliver bilingual safety inductions, toolbox talks, safety training, and emergency drills for both local and foreign workers.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and enhance employees' safety awareness and competency.

• Compliance & External Coordination

  • Liaise with local authorities, landowners, management companies, and other stakeholders on EHS-related matters.
  • Prepare and submit EHS documentation for regulatory approvals, ensure legal compliance, coordinate inspections, and manage overall EHS activities to maintain the company's professional image.

Job Requirements

• Education Background: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in construction site safety or EHS management.
• Strong knowledge of construction site safety practices, high-risk work procedures, and Malaysian occupational safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Able to independently prepare EHS management plans, method statements, emergency response plans, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.
• Experienced in conducting safety training, toolbox meetings, and emergency response drills.
• Possession of relevant safety certifications (e.g. Green Book, SHO, NIOSH, DOSH-related certifications) will be an added advantage.
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia (both spoken and written). Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage.
• Strong communication and coordination skills with local authorities, contractors, consultants, and multinational teams.
• Highly responsible, detail-oriented, and capable of making sound decisions under pressure with excellent risk assessment and emergency response skills.
• Willing to work on-site, able to handle a fast-paced environment, and a good team player with a proven safety management record.
