Job summary

Edge Design & Contracts Sdn Bhd (842728-X) is seeking an Interior Draftsman to translate design concepts into precise technical drawings for interior fit-out and renovation projects. You will prepare floor plans, elevations, sections, and joinery details, coordinating with designers, PMs, site teams, suppliers, and consultants.

The role requires a Diploma/degree in Interior Design or related field, at least 2 years drafting experience, and strong AutoCAD skills; knowledge of SketchUp/Revit/3ds

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in interior design or related field.
• Minimum 2 years drafting/interior fit-out experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD; knowledge of SketchUp/Revit/3ds Max/Enscape/Lumion is a plus.
• Able to read and interpret architectural, structural and M&E drawings.
• Good communication and coordination with project teams, suppliers & consultants.
• Willing to work extra hours to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical drawings for interior fit-out projects.
• Translate concepts into accurate drawings for execution.
• Prepare floor plans, elevations, sections, joinery details.
• Develop joinery and carpentry drawings for production/site.
• Coordinate with designers, managers, site teams, suppliers & subcontractors.
• Conduct site measurements to verify dimensions and conditions.
• Update drawings with design changes and client requirements.
• Review drawings to ensure accuracy and specs.
• Identify and resolve technical or construction issues.
• Assist teams during construction and installation.
• Coordinate with suppliers on specs and fabrication details.
• Prepare drawings for client review and consultant approval.
• Maintain drawing registers and project files.
• Prepare as-built drawings after project completion.
• Ensure drawings meet standards, specs, and deadlines.
• Manage multiple revisions and project requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Role Description

• Prepare detailed technical drawings, shop drawings, construction drawings, and fabrication drawings for interior fit-out and renovation projects.
• Translate design concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate and practical technical drawings for project execution.
• Prepare floor plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans, joinery details, and custom furniture drawings.
• Develop detailed joinery and carpentry drawings for production and site installation.
• Coordinate closely with Interior Designers, Project Managers, Site Supervisors, suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure drawings meet project requirements.
• Conduct site measurements and site visits to verify dimensions, existing conditions, and site constraints.
• Update and revise drawings based on design changes, client requirements, site conditions, and project developments.
• Review drawings and technical details to ensure accuracy, construct ability, dimensions, materials, finishes, and specifications are clearly indicated.
• Identify potential technical, dimensional, or construction issues and coordinate with the relevant project team to develop practical solutions.
• Assist the project and site teams in resolving technical and drawing-related issues during construction and installation.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors on technical specifications, materials, fabrication requirements, and construction details.
• Prepare drawings for client review, consultant approval, production, fabrication, and site installation when required.
• Maintain proper drawing registers, revision records, technical documentation, and project files.
• Prepare and update as-built drawings upon completion of projects.
• Ensure drawings comply with company standards, client requirements, project specifications, and relevant industry practices.
• Ensure drawings are completed accurately and within the required project deadlines.
• Manage multiple drawing revisions and project requirements efficiently.
• Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the management from time to time.

Qualifications

• Candidate must possess at least a Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Building Technology, Drafting, Construction, or equivalent.
• Preferably minimum 2 years of working experience in drafting, interior fit-out, renovation, construction, joinery, or a related field.
• Proficient in AutoCAD is mandatory.
• Knowledge of SketchUp, Revit, 3ds Max, Enscape, Lumion, or other relevant design/drafting software will be an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of interior fit-out construction, joinery works, carpentry, materials, and fabrication details.
• Able to read and interpret architectural, structural, and M&E drawings.
• Good knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry practices.
• Strong technical drawing, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of dimensions, measurements, scale, specifications, and construction details.
• Good communication and coordination skills when dealing with project teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants.
• Able to manage multiple projects and drawing revisions while meeting tight deadlines.
• Able to work independently with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
• Proactive, responsible, disciplined, and committed to delivering accurate work.
• Willing to work additional hours when required to meet project deadlines and deliverables.
• Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia and English.
• Possess own transport is an added advantage.
• Positive working attitude with good interpersonal and communication skills.
