Job summary

Rapid Business Engineering & Machinery Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Mechanical Design Drafter to prepare cutting and nesting plans from drawings.

You will work with production and engineering teams to ensure drawings align with design requirements and materials quality, and you will independently handle design detailing tasks. Ideal candidates hold a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and have strong TEKLA and CAD skills, plus good English and Bahasa Malaysia writing abilities.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required.
• Proficiency with engineering design programs and strong technical skills in listed tools.
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia in writing.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cutting plans on plate and beam from engineering drawings.
• Create nesting plans and maintain updated lists.
• Ensure drawings meet design requirements and specifications.
• Collaborate with production and project/engineering teams.
• Handle a range of design detailing and drawings independently.
• Define procedures to follow according to design specs and material quality.
• Consult or assist engineers to carry out production drawings.
• Take on ad-hoc tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

Prepare cutting plans on plate and beam based on engineering drawings. Prepare nesting plans and update lists to ensure drawings are prepared according to design requirements and specifications. Work closely with production and project/engineering teams, handling all range of design detailing and drawings independently. Determine procedures and instructions to be followed according to design specifications and quality of required materials. Consult or assist engineers to carry out all production drawings.

About you

• At least a Diploma holder in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Proficiency with engineering design programs and excellent technical skills, especially with TEKLA, CAD software, AutoCAD, TurboNest, CypNest, Tube Laser, Kebei Beam Laser
• Sound knowledge of design and engineering principles and best practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Independent, a good team player and able to work under pressure
• Basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia-writing
• Willing to travel until the assigned project is complete
